Makes sense. I wouldn't hate the public domain if it didn't force me to watch every single thing people produce on it. We can't simply ignore the ones we don't like and enjoy the ones we do.

It's just a fad, like the sudden opening of a flood gate. Once the novelty wears off you won't see these anymore, not for the same characters anyway.
