Its really good until the end where the infamous Colonel Kurtz is just an obese Marlon Brando who didn't even learn his lines

I particularly like how the opening montage, which focuses on dissolves, exactly matches the final montage: a human face (or a sculpture representing a human face), the jungle, a fire off in the corner. With the important distinction that the opening sequence is brightly lit (dawn, day, beginning), and the final shots are black, dead of night, ending.

The guy who hangs onto the helicopter at the Bunny show is an exact rhyme with the hanged dead body at the front doorstep of Kurtz's camp. They are both pantsless. The guy hanging onto the helicopter is fully alive, almost representing life itself: strong, active, trying to do something, wants to fuck out in the jungle. The dead body at the front door of Kurtz's camp stands for death itself, what awaits in this place. Both figures are suspended about 20 feet above the water, and both figures are eventually shown to be cut down, falling into the water.

Is that five-barrel sun supposed to be the barrel of the "60" weapon used on the boat, or some other specific weapon? Or does it represent a film reel instead? I don't know anything about guns so the image of five holes seems a bit odd to me, not like a six-shooter revolver, or whatever the appropriate terms are.

Coppola is a master of the dissolve, it's almost his specific specialty. Try re-watching Godfather I and II and give special focus to watching to how the dissolves work. Things like: when they go to the mattresses when the war starts, they make themselves spaghetti to keep themselves fed. One soldier dishes out uneaten spaghetti into the trash, and the next shot is an image of Fat Clemenza's belly, shirtless, right where the food was shown, as he relaxes in bed and tries to sleep. There's also a number of good ones during Tom's visit to the movie producer at his very swanky estate, and the horse kill right after.

Spec Ops is a terrible game that falls flat both, narratively and gameplay-wise

It ended up being notable for trying something different in a medium where any plot more complex than "hero has to do X" is hailed as special
