>>213652980 (OP)I particularly like how the opening montage, which focuses on dissolves, exactly matches the final montage: a human face (or a sculpture representing a human face), the jungle, a fire off in the corner. With the important distinction that the opening sequence is brightly lit (dawn, day, beginning), and the final shots are black, dead of night, ending.
The guy who hangs onto the helicopter at the Bunny show is an exact rhyme with the hanged dead body at the front doorstep of Kurtz's camp. They are both pantsless. The guy hanging onto the helicopter is fully alive, almost representing life itself: strong, active, trying to do something, wants to fuck out in the jungle. The dead body at the front door of Kurtz's camp stands for death itself, what awaits in this place. Both figures are suspended about 20 feet above the water, and both figures are eventually shown to be cut down, falling into the water.
