>>213662421The bigger problem is that the characters are designed by people who don't exist in the real world, they exist in their own little bubble and have no idea about who they are trying to appeal to.
They want to make characters who 'look like different types of people' but don't recognise that most young black kids look nothing like the kid in your picture. I'd say you'd find it exceedingly difficult to find a young black kid who looks ANYTHING like that character.
They want it to be realistic and then make completely unrealistic depictions of people and wonder why the movie flops. Riley from Inside Out(the first one) was an actually realistic interpretation of an 11 year old, and the reason that she was relatable is that she was just a regular white kid who the writers didn't feel the need to make """""quirky""""" to hit demographics like they do with black/brown characters.
