All they had to do was make a fun colorful buzz lightyear movie that andy would actually watch (literally could just COPY THE SHOW, adapt a couple of the eps into a movie) and make ~500m but instead they were like, uhhhhh mnnnn lets go dark, overly detailed nasty skin, uhhhhhhh boring and dumbbb yeah that'll work
