I’d make a retelling of WW2 but each country is a different fantasy race.
Nips can be elves. Russians obviously orcs. Allies are obviously humans. Australians can be trolls. But Id go with the discworld version of elves where they have the mentality somewhere between a cat and a wasp.

Fantasy is when there is magic, to keep it simple. Elves and orcs and dwarves are just common staples. What OP is asking for is something like urban tolkienesque fantasy, specifically.

call me crazy, but I think the 2007 Dresden Files show was pretty good. I haven't seen it in years, I don't know if you can even find it anywhere anymore, and it got shitcanned after one season, but I thought it was comfy. Vin Diesel's The Last Witch Hunter also gets a little bit of the vibe right.
