pretty much any sci-fi or fantasy, I don't mind the low budget or cheesy stuff either as long as the writing is decent. Been on a pretty big Star Trek kick recently so that's currently at the top of the list, but I kinda bounce around a bunch of fandoms

Nothing, really. They destroyed everything I ever liked. Or I saw it all with new eyes. Or I got bored of it. I have decades worth of merch and I sometimes hate it all so much I wish I could burn it all. But there's nothing that I like enough and find comfy to "escape" into it. I can enjoy certain things on certain days when the weather's fair, so to speak, but it's nothing like it was before.

Over the last 10 to 15 years, every major franchise I've loved has been infected and taken over.

Comicbooks, Star Trek, Star Wars, and many other franchises from the 80s/90s/2000s, video games, then books like Warhammer 40K, and now anime.

They haven't fully infected anime yet but the cracks are showing in anime. Censorship, refusing to animate some scenes because it may offend Western audiences, bending the knee to Netflix, making shitty Netflix adaptions, etc.


I am now reading books because it's the last sanctuary I have left because Normies don't like reading.

Escapism is one of the few things keeping me from losing it completely. I only read positive reviews of stuff I like and negative reviews of stuff I dislike. There are people who find safety in numbers and there are people who find strength in personality.
You just gotta accept when discussing anything online that there's a group of people out there that make this their whole life, and frankly you just like a couple episodes of a TV show when you're tired.
