Book of Fat Bob happened that immediately undid the narrative of the first two seasons, rendering them completely and utterly pointless, while at the same time completely ruining Boba Fett as a character and killing any good will they'd managed to acquire. This show was the shit nuke and we never recovered from it. Shitsney is a disaster of a company without a single creative bone in its body, and Baby Yeed was never anything more than a cynical, shallow marketing ploy, and Book of Fat Bob, S3 and that shitty upcoming movie proved it beyond the shadow of a doubt. Soulless cash grab.

A series like that with the same "Do a bounty, get an upgrade" only works for 1 or 2 seasons.

Season 2 was written and shot before Season 1 was even out. They were written and shot together, back to back. It was also all written by Favreau, and Filoni didn't have any more or less involvement on S2 than he did on S1. He actually had less involvement on S3, since he was busy with Ahsoka.

Apparently Disney was on the fence with adding a baby version of Yoda’s species. It wasn’t until after he blew up that the show got derailed after finding a logical endpoint with the Mando/Baby Yoda arc. And I suppose many wouldn’t like the implication baby yoda was killed by Kylo
