Superman was never a draw. And with the rise of anti-semitism, Superman's brand of jewishness is more out of step with the zeitgeist than ever. Snyder tried to correct this by making Superman more of a Christian figure than a jewish one, but Superman's jewish aspect is too ingrained into the concept, so the character still rubbed people the wrong way and it too underperformed compared to contemporary capeshit despite being better than 2025's.

Why did Superman beat BvS domestically but won't get anywhere near $875m worldwide? Even minus China BvS made $780m

Seems like Superman character is a box office poison and Snyder's controversial take was the only way to attract audiences to see Superman movies. He was right all along. This is exactly why MoS and BvS are the way they are. Movies way ahead of their times.

You can't compare Superman 2025 with Man of Steel, Snyder was a respected filmmaker even after Sucker Punch, you can see the decline of the DC brand if you compare it with Justice League, Superman 2025 is more or less what Man of Steel 2 would have done, maybe even less.
