The movies did a fantastic job adding depth and nuance to virtually every character there was. The conflict between Gimly and Legolas was much enhanced but led to a great conclusion, Aragorn's evolution into a king was fer better explored and paced throghout the trilogy, Boromir gives hints of being drawn to the ring along the way instead of singular spergout at the very end of his life, Sam is sounds more like a loyal and dedicated friend than a simpleton retard slave...its baffling how much better the movies are than the books and literally every single omission and change made by Peter Jackson was clearly a better choice.
