I pay for AMC A-List.
It pays for itself after one IMAX showing.
4 free movies, every week.
It doesn't cover fathom events.

i mean, there was this restaurant place that had a projector that would sometimes have dinner and a movie night, and i can get that

but just a regular ass theater, with no table and just fucking eating shitty microwaved 20 dollar ketchup pizza or 15 dollar gas station hot dogs or some shit? i dont see the appeal at all

The big movie chain in my country/city, general admission for standard screens is $22 before tax. You can go to smaller theatres with smaller screens and viewing rooms, a couple I know cost $12 there but they're aren't close to where I live and I don't want to go downtown just to see a film.

When Canada had AMC, I would go all the time

wouldnt it be acceptable behavior to this sort of person, to steal snacks from the candy store as well? they just dont do it because of the repercussions.

Well it's very simple. Piracy is neither stealing nor theft, as the owner of the property maintains said property and loses absolutely nothing when you pirate (you weren't going to buy it anyway). If you made an exact working replica of a BMW, is that stealing? No. Sneaking food into a theater is also not theft. You may have purchased the food elsewhere. Now let me ask you, is it a moral dilemma for the theater to have a no outside food policy and then upcharge their candy 500%? Sounds like a ripoff to me.

So anyhow you are just making a false dichotomy, simple as.

The big theater chains are around $20
The indie theaters are like $16.
IMAX is around $25.
Sinners in 70mm IMAX was $30.
I have theater subscriptions to both AMC and an independent theater so I pay a lot less. There's no way I'd see more than a couple movies a year if I had to pay full price.

1981 was also a pretty good year for movies. Ones I saw in the theater include:
> Raiders of the Lost Ark
> Fort Apache: The Bronx
> My Bloody Valentine
> American Pop
> Omen III
> Nighthawks
> Excalibur
> Happy Birthday to Me
> Cannonball Run
> Stripes

> Arthur
