A Midsummer Night's Sex Comedy is one of the funniest films of the 80's. Allen is an interesting case since he was often filtering the tropes and conventions of traditional European drama through his neurotic Jewish perversions. But he was intelligent enough to do that via clever references and interesting allusions rather than just blunt Mel Brooks-style parodies.
