I just saw this at the theater, and holy shit. The cinematography, the emotion, the storytelling. VHS tapes and DVDs from back in the day don't do it justice. I wasn't even a sperm cell when it originally released, so I was glad to see it on the big screen for once in 4K. Something with this level of quality being "just a kids' movie" back in the day really speaks to how bad things are now.

Sorry for being gay but I hope RLM does another Re:View for this with a real person. It being the one of the most successful independent films, it hides so much of the antidote for our current slop predicament

I'm not insulting you personally, but who actually cares about RLM?

I like when they talk stuff and then they had that fatso on to be like "I uhh like Turtels" without even reading the wikipedia. I don't really have any friends, man. Do you know anyone who talks about movies

I have like one friend but why watch RLM when you can just watch movies?

Solitude isn't bad if you do it correctly.

I'm an ancient boomer millenial born just after Gen X so the first ninja turtles movie slipped under my radar or maybe even my parents thought it was too dark and violent for me to watch.

I loved TMNT II, obviously, and sure you can criticize it for being a dumbed down movie clearly aimed at a younger general audience but the same is true of something like Terminator II and people loved that shit.
Also just as a(nother) time capsule of the 1990s and being a fun creature feature movie with the jim henson puppets and body suits for tonka and razor.

But having watched the first TMNT movie as an adult I also see why it's the unsung hero of the movie franchise. While TMNT II was more in line with the cartoons the first movie was almost just like a gritty new york crime drama straight out of the late 80s - for kids!

I watched Secret of the Ooze on VHS asa a kid, around the time the 2003 show was on the air. I never saw the original movie until I was a teenager and it really blew me away at the time.
