Spidey-Sense was just a takeoff of spiders being really attuned to the vibrations of prey in their web and other stimuli. It was never big leap in logic, and became a reasonable basis for why he was so much more capable of his unique movements and web swinging compared to any other equally strong and fast superhero. It just kept getting Flanderized in typical comic book fashion until it became stupid bullshit like Cyclops's punch dimension. On that note, I can at least buy that as a rationale for why no one else tries to use his mechanical web shooters. Even Taskmaster had trouble with that.
