It's worse than part one, but pretty kino in a place or two. If you could stand part 1, it's probably worth watching with lowered expectations. If you hated part one, you should probably skip it.

The story needed a lot more work, the editing seems to have gone out the door and the budget meant that even if it was better, it still probably wouldn't have turned a profit. Just a bit of a botched production, even if it's not the worst movie ever.

Yes it was utterly pointless. I wasn't too fussed with the William Donloe character coming back either. And the film spelt out who he was like twice before he met Ethan on the plane, spelling it out again. But I guess idiots need that since someone in the screening I was in didn't realise who he was until far later because I heard them audibly react and say to the person next to them who it was.

The second half of the movie is better. From the moment Ethan jumps into the ocean. The submarine sequence is great cause it's silent, except for the part where Eathan had to say "Torpedo tube" for that one idiot in the audience that didn't get it. I bet that was done in post.

Why did we need Ethan to go to an aircraft carrier and talk with Hannah Waddingham to then go to a submarine? Why not go straight to the submarine? I feel like they were trying to have this undercooked theme of "old school human connections" are what will beat the AI, hence why the President gives Ethan a note for Hannah Waddingham's character. But again, you could have just cut his scenes with her and nothing would have changed.

I think you're confused because I was not defending those movies and when I said the films were about action and set pieces I was talking about the film series as a whole. The last one was so bad because rather than action and set pieces it was all exposition. That being said I would defend some of the action in Dead Reckoning, as silly as it was, the stuff with the train was all solid. Dead Reckoning felt far more exciting than Final Reckoning. And the sub seems to be the only scene people thought was okay or good but like I said it was still really silly. Everything else was weak.
