Not that anon, but I've watched them and it's honestly my preferred way to watch the OT. Some of the changes that Lucas made make sense, but a lot of them are retarded. This does a good job of keeping o ly the good changes, and makes a few little tweaks that I like. I mentioned that he aged Hayden up to look closer to the character's age in RoTJ, but my favorite addition was to Boba Fett's voice. Keeping Temuera Morrison as the main voice, but using Jason Wingreen's lines as an effect from the helmet, it's great.

I saw the raw cinema one with all the noise in it. BUT I have come to the conclusion that noise reduction algorithms are OK. If it’s super high res scan, noise reduced, and color correct, it’s going to be better. The shit where they copy paste stuff to basically make another special edition isn’t pure. A good scan and noise reduction that is tuned perfectly to erase just the film grain dots between frames should be near perfect. The inter frame film grain isn’t part of the “signal” or detail of the movie. It should not blur their skin like infamously bad Blu-rays. The German tv one also looks real good, maybe with too much color pop. It is hard to say what the original colors actually are supposed to be.

Just because a creator got to make something his way doesn't make it inherently better. If you decided you wanted to make a beef wellington with pillsbury dough it doesn't make it any better because you, the creator, chose it to be so. It would make it absolute shit.
Directors, producers, and writers make absolute shit decisions all the time. George is not immune to that. Just because he (at the time) owned Star Wars doesn't mean all his decisions were good or were immune to criticism. Do I think he deserves to be crucified for all eternity by millions of nerds? Fuck no. But to claim he made ALL good decisions because that's what he wanted is asinine.
To all the people who want the most original version: it's bad. There are a lot of tweaks that have been made that people just don't realize. It's not just OG '77 release then special editions. TONS of edits were made between those two, and quite frankly before the special editions, the vast majority of them were needed. Star Wars was made on a shoestring budget on a schedule that just didn't allow for good post production.
This is kind of a case of middle-aged women and plastic surgery. Maybe the first few were good and subtle, but they just kept going and soon it turned into an abomination. Where and when is hard to really say, and even if you point at something like the special editions as being bad, there are still some good things in it, like the death star explosion.
The issue today is that IT KEEPS FUCKING CHANGING. Seriously, WTF? It's going to be almost FIFTY FUCKING YEARS OLD. STOP TWEAKING IT DISNEY.

Congress archives movies, it only did so at the insistence of film critics and directors after old films were altered for TV and home video . There was worry the original films would be lost of nothing was done to preserve them. It's not that weird, Lucas himself spoke in front of Congress to support exactly that in 1988, before he did the special versions.
We can debate for ages if the changes were necessary or good, but not making the original theatrical versions available is inexcusable.
