When virtually everyone gets the "wrong" message from your movie, at what point does it stop being a media literacy issue on the part of the audience and start being a skill issue on the part of the writer/director for not conveying their fucking meaning properly?

The point about “Media Literacy” is that depicting something on screen doesn’t necessarily mean it’s being advocated for or glorified. A lot of people don’t get this. The term is a bit overused though. Art is subjective and open to interpretation. Having a different opinion on a piece of art doesn’t mean someone lacks “media literacy”.
