tbf the company that made them basically was dead by the time Isolation happened...i think it was a plot point that the station was getting abandoned.
I do think they appear in Aliens Dark Descend...you can fix them and use them as engineers.

I don't like that you play as Amanda Ripley. In the Director's Cut of Aliens -- which is pretty much the standard version these days, the one that most newcomers will watch -- there is a scene where Ripley is shown a photo of her daughter and told that she lived to be a ripe old age and died of natural causes a while ago. If that's true, it means Amanda made it back home from the events of Sevastapol and didn't say a word to the company about the shocking events that transpired there; she must not have, because when Ellen tells them a similar story about the alien on the Nostromo, almost everyone on the W-Y board is ignorant of the subject and disbelieving of her claims. I suppose the Isolation sequel, if it ever happens, will contrive some far-fetched reason for Amanda keeping the secret. They can't kill her off because Aliens gave her a full life.

And isn't it odd that the company don't mention to Ellen, "Your daughter worked for the company like you, following in her mother's footsteps."

I could believe the idea at first. She would want to follow her mom's footsteps. They knew she would be interested in any word on the lost ship, so they included her in the mission. She is the lone survivor again and has no love for the company, which again didn't care if she died, so I can see her not telling them shit. As well as retiring and being paid to keep quiet about a botched mission that got people killed. And just like the Nostromo's incident, I can believe things are compartmentalized so only a few know about it and they either die, move on, or its covered up deeply. It's so much better to think:
>Amanda only saw the creatures one time, then stayed back on Earth
>The company lost all knowledge of them until Ellen Ripley turns back up
>the derelict beacon on LV-426 was turned off by Marlow, and the colony set up there was an innocent mission to terraform a new world just like all the others
I hate the bullshit "it was all connected and a secret conspiracy over centuries!" nonsense. And although I'd like to play another Alien Isolation game, I really don't like that they'll probably use Amanda as the protagonist again. Since then you certainly can't take it seriously that no one would know. Then she'll be a super-alien fighter that's fought them all over the galaxy. And it'll be silly trivial stupidity when he mother finally wakes up and fights them again since her daughter has defeated them dozens of times!

It's good-looking trash, but trash nonetheless. The quotes and callbacks to the earlier films are mindlessly thrown in without sense or justification. A sort of Frankenstein's monster assembled from what pieces of the dead franchise the local graverobber's could retrieve for Disney; just sew it all together, it doesn't matter if it's monstrous.

Its actually a great movie, the 2001: Space Odyssey homage was great, loved the hyper capitalist mining planet setting in conjuction with the zoomer cast which felt believable and relevant considering how pretty much every young person now is dejected and disillusioned with the current, endlessly rewardless system and wants to escape....until they introduce Ian Holmes robot clone and then the movie turns into a nostalgia addled, coporate necromancy theme park ride

It's sad because you can see there is a decent film in there, buried beneath six feet of Disney-mandated dirt. If you took out Not-Ash and all the shitty quotes ("Get away from her, you... bitch.") then it would be at least 30% better.

I fucking hated the "door tool". You click, the action happens... and THEN the animation of her moving her thumb to press the buttons happens.
If they weren't retarded, they would've just had her keep her thumb on the button so the "click" was instantaneous and didn't need a second long animation of her moving her hand around to finally press it.

The animations are there to increase tension and make you sweat when the alien is creeping nearby and you want a door open ASAP. It's part of the survival horror setup.

Compared to certain other games, the forced animations are not overly slow or intrusive. After slogging through Red Dead 2, Alien Isolation feels like I'm playing a Sonic.

>and you want a door open ASAP.
The door opens ASAP. The action happens instantanously. (you can see it in the video) It's the button pressing animation that lags behind. They could've easily given a delay to the action to make it line up with the animation... or had a faster animation and added a "loading screen" to the tool if they really wanted to add delay for tension.

It's just a nitpick honestly... but with how often you had to use that tool, it got on my nerves.

yeah and it doesn't work it's more of an annoyance and when the alien does turn up you are stuck in an animation so getting killed feels cheap
other things that are ass is the crafting/inventory, there is literally no point to it, you can make several different things but you only ever use them as thrown distraction and the health system is redundant too
It was obviously going to have some metroidvania aspects with different tools to open different doors etc and being able to return to previous areas but there really is no reason to aside from advancing the plot.

AvP and its sequel are the dullest films in which the xeno appears. They manage to be more boring than the chase sequences in Alien 3. Resurrection might be objectionable in many ways, but at least it doesn't act as a sedative on the viewer.
