So we all agree this is the best horror movie of the year so far right?

/tv/ is full of contrarian losers, because of that, /tv/ has decided it's shit. And just like with Babylon, we'll see /tv/ hailing it as a great movie in a few years.

F1 comes pretty close. The Surfer was also really good, but no one saw that lol. Ever since I saw Weapons I've been trying to think what the best 2025 movie is so far. And what I've discovered is I've forgotten the majority of the movies I saw in theatres this year.

No retard, it's actually shit. I know you fags think tapwater thrillers are great and all, but its just normie indie sludge. I bet you think dog shit like Barbarian, Longlegs, and M3gan were timeless hits as well.

M3gan is a movie for tranny groomers, hence the sequel (never seen either btw).
Barbarian is great, you're just proving you're a basement-dwelling virgin contrarian.
Longlegs is better than Weapons, but Longlegs came out last year. You're just mad that you're a loser.

I really liked how much it did "show dont tell" with the witch spells. The lack of exposition in general was very cool. I agree with anon from another thread we could have had one or two more heat seeking spergs screaming across town after a target, but either way it was really good. Now I have to see Barbarian.

His fight was genuinely comedic genius. In fact I feel like a regular comedy would have had him get up maybe 3 times and be done. He got up like 12 times and it just got funnier each time.
I think there's an argument to be made that the Weapons guy is shaping up to be the next Sam Raimi. There were even some shots that reminded me of Raimi's movies (when we're introduced to the junkie and the camera is panning between his hands really frantically especially gave me Raimi vibes)

I like how it felt like an adult episode of Goosebumps, the way it unfolded through the different character chapters, the themes of how if we let guilt drive us it can lead to worse outcomes. The way the villain is slowly revealed right up to when you finally the orange hair silhouette walk past the principles office windows.
Also maybe a bit niche but I find open front doors in suburbia incredibly unsettling when there's nothing but a void past the door and you're anticipating what will come through. I've never seen anything else from this director but it seems like he's good at towing the line between comedy and horror and the juxtaposition of the two creates more tension. I'll probs get called a faggot for writing all this out but it's just my opinion!

Her hair is reminiscent of an old granny. It's easy to see in the scene where she's sleeping. I thought that was a nice tidbit since shes typically young for a elementary school teacher in movies

I don't feel like there is a true thematic whole to the film, and any underlying meaning for a character often feels disconnected from the others. From a pure entertainment perspective, I found myself mostly engaged throughout, with some pacing lulls here or there that took the wind out of my sails a bit. I felt ahead of the movie too much, and was waiting for it to catch up to me. Even still, I think this was a fun summer film. I don't regret seeing it at all.

Definitely had its moments, Benedict Wong Naruto running into the gas station was probably the highlight for me. Agreed with the other anons, they definitely under-utilised the weapons.

For me the comedy felt very tryhard and more often than not detracted from the horror, particularly with that goofy ass comedy chase sequence at the end, though seem like Iโ€™m in the minority there as Iโ€™ve seen nobody else criticise it and my zoomer theatre were giggling like crazy through the whole thing. To me it just completely undermined all of the tension theyโ€™d built up.
