Is any movie along the same lines ever going to top Hellboy 2?
I don't know what the hell subgenre I should be classifying this as, but you know what I mean, and whatever it is Hellboy 2 is still the peak of it.

I hated Hellboy 2. Don't even remember exactly why, which presumably means it was boring and forgettable. Only thing that sticks out about it was the kino special effects work. But overall Hellboy 1 was far superior.

I enjoy anything Mignola does really, I like the characters and the atmosphere, so I liked all Hellboys by default. Except the really stupid one with American hillbillies. Mignola needs to stick to stories based on actual culture and history.

Maybe if the genre you're thinking of is like "practical effects heavy movies"? I don't really think LOTR and Hellboy 2 are that comparable outside of that though.

Glowies versus pissed off elves and fairies is what they should do for the human plot of a Monsterverse Mothra solo movie. For as batshit as they've gotten with Hollow Earth, its nuts that they're still hesitant to go all in and give us twin fairies.
