What are some directors you think are massively overrated?
For me, it is
Eggers
Villeneuve
Del Toro
Eggers is the definition of McDonald's arthouse. Villeneuve is soulless and DUNC especially sucks. Del Toro is reddit incarnate
>>213780232That goes without saying, although I suppose there is no harm in restating. Even worse than him is Coogler.
>>213780147 (OP)List is pretty good but I'd swap Eggers with Nolan.
>>213780147 (OP)>Eggers is the definition of McDonald's arthouse. Villeneuve is soulless and DUNC especially sucks. Del Toro is reddit incarnatePretty much this, yeah. I'll admit I like some of Del Taco's movies, though.
>>213780297I admit, I haven't seen Del Toro's supposedly best movies, but what I have seen of him just really puts me off giving him another chance.
>>213780260I don't even believe Coogler directs anything. It's a psyop. Look at him. He looks like he can't add numbers together.
>>213780275I used to defend Nolan, but it is has gotten pretty hard to do that. I think his style is aging badly if anything too.
Not that they didn't used to be good, but Ridley Scott, James Cameron, and Martin Scorsese all lost their minds at some point and can't make anything good.
>>213780147 (OP)Name a director better than Eggers who emerged in the last ten years.
>>213780297The best thing Del Taco's movies have going for them are the effects and the visuals. Some are okay, but they are Taco Bell's arthouse, elevated capeshit at best, and on a thematic level they all boil down to
