Now that the hd print is out just saw this

one of the worst movies ive ever seen. It goes on for 3 hours and the first hour is just people talking in closeups. The submarine scene was well made but that is about it. The AI enemy is useless and doesnt do much in the movie. It cost 400m dollars apparently. Lol. Lmao even

Honestly it was a huge disappointment and I was kinda happy they left the door so wide open for another movie despite it being the “””final””” film. Agreed that the submarine part was pure kino, almost everything else SUCKED except the biplane chase and the depiction of nuclear war. I liked the cabin fight with the commandos, did anybody even die in it?

There were too many side characters. AI villain was dumb as fuck and felt like they had something else in mind but rewrote it to be AI because there’s buzz about it. Too many plot devices, they had three or four macguffins. Action very forgettable outside the standouts mentioned above. They had not one but TWO high-stakes nuke disarming scenes. Why’d they kill Luther? Bad guy was boring, I thought he was George Clooney the entire time.

Oh and forgot to add the flashbacks were ridiculous. They could have cut a significant amount of runtime. Not just stuff from previous movies but things from 30 minutes ago were being shown again like the audience was stupid (or an admission their movie was too long and forgettable).

Also how does the AI virus work? It seemed really slow if it was already in their computer systems. Or did they really leave the ethernet cables plugged into their nukes and wait around for them to get hacked? How could they tell when an arsenal became compromised? They also had ages to disarm their nukes before the AI took over but just sat around. I know the idea of temporarily dismantling your nukes while you sort out the AI is scary but the only outcome if you didn’t would be extinction (assuming Ethan failed).
