i could tell they changed the writing staff, as they felt the need to majorly expand the plot and leave the main setting, a telltale sign insecure inexperienced writers have been put in charge

season 2 was fine, it was just the episode centered on a needless one-character road trip that dropped the season from a 9 to an 8.
The finale was great.

The UK has completely fallen but one of the very few things they got right in the 20th century was stopping series after a season or two. Very, very few shows benefit from being stretched out.
