>>213781312 (OP)I predict Alien Earth will have the same general feel as the Fallout show. Bug eyes protagonist with crazy plot armor, decent aesthetics but absolutely brain dead story line.
>>213781400no, prequels or sidequels are never canon
>>213782525>the same general feel as the Fallout showThe Fallout show is a comedy, bro. Crazy your autistic ass missed that.
How do you come from this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wmI-7QVlCw
I hated Alien 3 and Covenant with a passion. I liked Prometheus. Both Romulus/Resurrection and most AvP films were dumb and boring. First AvP wasn't bad. Aliens is my favorite movie of all time. Never really liked Alien that much.
Knowing all that. Will I like this show?
finished first 2 episodes pretty inane and nonsensical. the alien grabbing the guy and flying off was hilariously bad
>>213782656i don’t think Alien is for you
so yes
I expected it to be a woke dystopia show and I was right.
Cast filled with global majority, white women, women without breasts, ugly haircuts, dry uninteresting scenes.
Guess it's okay to keep in the background while I do something else.
Hopefully there are many deaths.
>>213781312 (OP)Watching the series reminded me of playing the old AvP more than twenty years ago... playing with the xenomorphs was so confusing with the up-down perception.
The Maginot was in space for 65 years. That means they launched in 2055. How could it be a WY mission if the merger only happened in the 2090s?
>>213782785can't tell if crappy bot or just retarded

The Romulus movie was good until the aliens got on the screen. Let's sneak past a room full of face walkers, guys...lol lmao!
I liked the plot of indentured servitude to the megacorp. They didn't even get a bonus situation! So I'm hoping this show is more this second part than dumb rehashing from previous Alien movies, like Romulus ended up being.
>>213782862Well, they can't fill every episode with Alien action. I think the pilot eps had a lot of it because execs demanded an Alien show to better have lots of creature horror and gore in its first episodes. I expect the next episodes to be more talky so we'll get more world building.
>>213782933>I expect the next episodes to be more talky so we'll get more world building. We better hear about the caseless ammunition.
Can't wait to hatewatch the new episodes
>>213781312 (OP)Official timeline
>>213782785I expected it to be a woke dystopia show and I was also right. What I was NOT expecting was Ice Age 4 references, autistic 12 year old children obsessed with peter pan being uploaded to cyborgs, skyrim weapon holsters, or moonwalking xenomorphs. I was not expecting, nor asked for any of this, yet I am enjoying this burning shitshow of a circus more than I have enjoyed anything in a long time
>>213783135I think they chose to have android bodies for the main characters because they will cover the entire timeframe to Resurrection. The final scene will be Clone-Ripley coming back to Earth and we will know why it looks like complete shit.
>>213783135Where is Ice Age 4 on this list?
>>213781400Only the first film is canon.
>>213782977>caseless ammunition>gun still has an ejection port
>>213783135Where is Isolation?
It's pretty good, it doesn't build up a lot of suspense since most people know what a Xenomorth is, it also doesn't take things seriously, which to be honest is a huge drag in most of the Alien series. The idea of sticking sick kids minds into robots and sending them into an emergency to get emotional feedback is absolutely insane and I love it.
You have to pay attention and read into the characters involved. It's doing a ton of world building that the Alien Series desparately needs. It also pulls off a lot of previous movies and comics lore involving cults, psychic powers, and just fucking with life in general.
It's really good.
>>213783310Alien Isolation is canon since it was pretty well done.
>>213783290>tries to be a smartass>is dumb
>>213783290>I'll take What Is Clearing A Jam for 500 Alex
I like it a lot.
It has a ethereal eerie quality that the original Alien movie had but none of the franchise movies since.
The only thing I dislike is the Prodigy leader, who is just acting too tropey and cringy and is taking way too much screentime.
>>213783481I think she is a really good character, because she hasn't figured out she has died yet and that they just copied her mind, would be cool if one of the kids survived afterwards and came back all fucked up.
>>213783513she is not the prodigy leader
>>213783513I'm talking about the trillionaire prodigy ceo/leader nerd.
>>213783557He's basically the tech bro sterotype.
>>213782862>The Romulus movie was good until the aliens got on the screen. Let's sneak past a room full of face walkers, guys...lol lmao!Nah. It's been great visual wise and Andy actor actually did a great job, but story barely holds together.
>>213783611>>213783611Romulus was pretty terrible. There is certain points where Andy could have just left them all to die.
I actually just watched it today, and it's pretty cliche
>>213783666Still cant believe they ddint saw the Alien body hanging from the ceiling
>>213783800Yeah, it was kind of hanging like a kite, but maybe it was just feeding into the trope that people never look up, the jerk guy almost fell into space or something, so everyone definitely looked down right below it lol
>>213783481>etherealI think it's that three note trumpet cue.
>>213783800Tbh It's one of the smallest plot-holes in Romulus
>WY colony doesn't pick SOS signal from WY station>Ash doesn't try to manipulate zoomers to call for WY or deliever black goo/facehugger/zenomorph to the colony>Chestbusters now forming within hour
>>213782656First ep is boring as fuck and it's heavy on 79' nostalgia like Romulus/Isolation. Maybe that's some people's thing but I'd rather have new art styles pivot around the Giger stuff rather than just doing the same Nostromo thing all the time.
>>213783987That whole station just flew over the entire colony and only the kids noticed.
Nobody questioned why a ship just flew out of a mining slave camp.
But it was kind of funny as shit when the science synth points a light at the alien.
>>213783949That but also the slow fades and lingering shots.
>>213783513>So desperate to insert his headcanon into yet another Alien thread he talks about the wrong character
>>213784522It's kinda crazy this dude's been at it for like what, a week now?
good things
>world building
>action
>concepts
>acting and cast
>atmosphere
>pacing
especially the pacing I like. they could have prolonged and mystery boxed the fuck out of the synthetics and what was going on etc etc.
bad things
>characters
not all but the prodigy ceo and also yutani were kinda cringe desu
>the alien one shots everyone but somehow cant one shot the medic because he is main character
idk, that was kinda dumb
>>213781312 (OP)My thing is isnt Blade Runner Replicants overcome the just tech and were basically made biologically? From desighned parts? Why they try to force WY synths into it if its different tech altogether?
Also i take would be to make a conflict between Robot(with human mind), Cyborg and Artificial evolution or Mutants.
Then we could have old corpos using Robot/ cyborgs and new corporation going the genetic way thats why they called Prodigy and shit. That makes genetic freaks from retarded dying kids. Making them tough strong fast etc. We can even add some mind powers to it too. (basically ripley from alien 4 as someone suggested before)
So when WY crush this ship the new corporation could become really interested in new aliens to use them in their experiments.
>>213784706the factions are:
normal humans
alien life
synths (pure robots)
synthetics (human mind in robot body)
>>213784573This website is full of people like that
>>213784778thats not what they wrote in the show bro.
>>213784778don’t forget
the druids
the mexican mafia
and the means
>>213784778ALien is there just so they cna use the name it will never be a faction in the show.
And there is no Human faction becasue there is no one to represent them that arent just work for a faction from Synth or Hybrids
>>213784874Well, Idk, because the Black Goo has always made some super fucked up shit, so it's kind of surprising the entire galaxy isn't just filled with ass rape aliens.
>>213784778>>213784874The factions are Synths, Cyborgs, Hybrids.
WY has a synth in the creeper bot and a cyborg robot hand
Prodigy has a synth Bullock and hybrids
Seems less like factions and more the ways to get immortal.
>>213785045There is definitely rogue synths and a few pro alien cults will likely show up in the show like the comics.
I have the feeling Hawley developed a show about Ghost in the Shell mind-upload cyborgs and then he got a call to make the new Alien show and he thought WOW, free money to make my show, I just need to put some Aliens and creature horror into it
>>213785133I hope not.
Halo felt like a skin and soundpack slapped on another idea and sucked for it
how many hours until the next episode where nothing happens
Please stop wanting to talk about this back alley abortion of a show.
>>213785133You could easily see things the other way around in this case.
>got the call to make an Alien tv show! >but there's already some much content and lore in this ip, what can I add that's fresh and intriguing? So far I'm glad it's not again about a crew trying to survive the xeno inside a spaceship.
>>213785230What would be a good alien show to you?
>>213782933maybe it SHOULDN'T BE A GOOD DAMNED TV SERIES THEN
>>213783406This is the worst fucking thing I've ever read.
>>213785266Nothing. The franchise should have stopped a long time ago. The xenomorph is effective only when less is known about it. After that it's all wank.
>>213784065>no one detects giant metal object in space in an age where there's space travel and no doubt space traffic controllersRunning theme in nuAlien.
>>213785873Maybe Weyland Yutani did but said
>HAHA, it will crash right into these Prodigy punks. Nope, not gonna warn them.Or Prodigy did and went
>Wait, a research vessel filled with cool corporate secrets will crash in our territory? Keep it under wraps, we will snatch it right then and there!
>>213782785>I expected it to be a woke dystopia show and I was right.>Sci-fi setting in the near future>Brownoids and queers everywhere>The setting is also presented as a bleak dystopiaIsn't that accidentally based ? Cyberpunk did it too
>Zoomers keep saying Adam Driver
Anyway what did you guys think of his story? Is it kino material? for the big screens or just as a TV series?
https://youtu.be/-latIFZ6xyA?t=1333
>>213785975Maybe, but there's been no evidence or indication that's the case, so I have to default to the flimsy logic being an idiotic mess for convenience because the writers are borderline retarded.
>>213782792AVP1 Alien campaign is the hardest thing in the entire AVP series since even on easy mode anything can 2 shot kill you.
The marine is balanced difficulty wise
The Predator is easymode.
AVP2 is free , doesn't need a Steam account like AVP1 & AVP2010 everyone refuses to call the latter AVP3 which is ironic since Trilogy, AVP1, AVP2010 were all made by Rebellion.

>>213785045So how WY can have two factions (Synths, Cyborgs). Prodigy also has Two factions (Synths, Hybrids).
Even if you think a litle Hybrids is just sane faction as Synths. Same for Cyborgs.
>>213786783my poin is none of this factions oppose each other, so only conflict would be take up from writers asholes.

Hey dumb question but it's abruptly occurred to me out of nowhere
Why ARE most movie guns made out of actual real guns? Star Wars, Alien, Terminator, Blade Runner, they all took actual firearms (in Star Wars' case, ones that were possibly actually used to kill people in WW2) and then slapped weird plastic shells and widgets on them to make toys out of them for use onscreen
Why not just make a whole fictional gun?

And the series has played a lot with how much aliens can even "see" robots; like Bishop being utterly ignored until he gets ripped in half at the last scene because he's physically standing between the Queen and Ripley. I know Morrow isn't 100% robot but this also seemed to be confusing the alien "what the fuck even is this dude"
The Alien franchise desperately needs its own Andor, a show where the main IP stuff(Jedis in SW and the xeno in Alien) plays no part.

But you could keep the Xenos in. Just do something than yet another Jurassic Park outbreak. A xeno research station where they never break out would be more interesting. Make the plot center around the scientists, corporate espionage, attempting to understand the unknowable, and the ethics of bioweapons.
>>213791264the comics go more into this stuff, some synths will still get attacked in hives or when the get in the way so collars were developed to make them "invisible" to the aliens but also labyrinth has the whole "fear" thing were they can sense fear but also people who are in a rage or drugged can sorta weird the alien out by not being afraid of them - in one part a test subject stops an alien by yelling at it, preventing it from killing another test subject and later on a female marine basically is so enraged at a doctor the alien boosts her out og a pit so she can smash his face in

>>213791373They books take it further than "fear". The xenos are psychic. They can read thoughts and sometimes even communicate via thoughts. This makes some people more interesting to them than others. They "see" androids, they just find them rather boring since they have no readable thoughts.

mayb morrow is implanted and spawns a cyborg-xeno.
>>213791426no the test subjects were both dudes, one drugged up to not be afraid and the other was normal who didn't want to get eaten, i have the comic and the paperback and i believe it was the same in both versions - the marine at the end who the xeno sorta helps is a woman but she ultimately doesn't get what she wants and the company/marines deal with her

While we're doing stupid comic bullshit, the ultimate appeal to the 13-year-old's psyche is the giganigga android that can just fucking manhandle xenos
And aside from that obviously being a retarded fanservice idea from a storytelling perspective, in-universe it still crosses my mind "Why couldn't Weyland-Yutani build something like him?"
There's nothing about him that suggests he's beyond their incredible technology abilities
the last time we see him he's singlehandedly holding off an entire hive so the heroes can escape and they imply he gets overwhelmed but you could just as easily suppose he eventually killed all of them
I read like 85% of all the Alien comics 4 years ago or so online but since then I've been wondering of getting all the comics, actually on my PC, is there a place?

>>213791840I guess the Ayylmao did give her a boost, the art's a bit janky to see what's going on though.

Phalanx is probably most commonly people's favorite, but to me the setting was tok far-fetched and the protag had too much plot armor.

3 is good, if you watch the remastered "assembly cut" that first showed up on the DVD "quadrilogy" box set, then a later blu-ray release cleaned up some of the shots and they redubbed audio for some of the dialogue that was in shit quality for the DVD release.
Resurrection sucks but looks good (that's Fox's fault for hiring Joss Whedon to write it), the AvP movies suck (but Requiem might have been okay before they fucked up in post-production and made it impossble to see what's going on at any point in the movie).
Prometheus and Covenant are for brawling over, and Romulus is the "don't worry we can still make it look like the first two!" movie that also does a better version of the Newborn from Resurrection that incorporates the black goo from Prometheus. brawling over whether it's good or not is perfectly acceptable.

It seemed like the alien was trying to decide if Morrow was frozen in place, and could be easily snatched away for tossing to the eggs, whether or not there was enough of him left to be a host, or even what he is.
He wasn't acting like most humans, and I don't think the xeno saw who shot him earlier. The xeno was trying to decide what to do with him because he wasn't an immediate threat.
The xenos seem to me to typically snatch loners, unless they are attacking in a wave. They'll fight and kill a group of people to scatter them, but they'll leave a couple alive to steal later.

Alien – they say it’s structural perfection’s matched only by its hostility.
Even artificial persons are impressed.
It preys on men.
Don’t need no special suit don’t need no nukes
And don’t need no artillery to rip right through your chest.
Aliens gestate inside a living human host and have some concentrated acid for blood
They mostly come at night. Mostly.
Their fate depends on whether there’s an airlock, whether they’re in space, or whether there’s a chick who’s just to fast to be cut. But the pros have come to fight. But the pros see
They have to get off LV-426
And nuke it from orbit, like Corporal Hicks, cause we know
Whoever said that there’s no real monsters
Never battled with an alien
Throwing down for the company, it’s something we’ve never seen before
Bringing war to xenomorphs this time

>>213791929I think Wendy is different a little from the others.
Not in a special way, just that they went full on adult level hormone programming first for weeks or months before using their "age her up by changing the programmed hormone changes."
Wendy's mind altered because of that.
With the rest of the Lost Boys, they started immediately with adolescent level hormones.
Wendy also seems to have more control of her body, makes sense, she was first. Looks like she instinctively magnetized part of her back to hold the cutter, like how she instinctively took control of that dumb droid a thousand miles away from her to talk to her brother simply through looking through the live video feed.
That's fucking dangerous.
>>213793348They are modified to be blank firing only.
There's a ton of different ways to do that, and an equal ton of different laws to go along with how to do it.
Alec Baldwin is a cheap sonofabitch who brought along real live 1860 style revolvers THAT HE OWNED to save on prop costs. Alec also brought along real ammo.
Then, Alec cheaped out again and hired a lying stupid bitch to be his armorer just because she lied about working with her dad as an assistant.
Alec called that bitch's DAD to be the armorer. Alec had worked her dad several times. He got that bitch instead because she still lived at home, doing OnlyFans and selling nudes online.
Alec and her both broke a ton of rules and laws about real, live ammo being on set and how it is stored and treated.
Alec got a slap on the wrist because of who he is. She got tossed in prison because the worst they could get her on was criminal negligence.
