What's a TV series that dipped in quality over time...but then jumped back UP?

Never happens. It's a law of nature. Once a show is bad, it can only get worse. People who claim otherwise are in some weird abusive realtionship with their favorite show.

Arrow, S1-2 good, S3-4 bad, S5 good. Then back down again but you know, it's something.

Twin Peaks, the ricochet is unsurpassed and possibly unsurpassable

LOST fits the description imo, Season 3 isn't very good but seasons 4 and 5 rip

Shows have bad seasons all the time.

Friday Night Lights has a great season 1, a terrible S2 that was impacted by the 2007 writers strike, then a great season 3, 4, and 5

So far Dexter Resurrection seems to be a step up in quality from before.

Angel. Season 5 utterly mogs season 3 and 4.
