And Waititi isn't all bad, What We Do in the Shadows is unambiguous kinto and Jojo Rabbit is flawed but still good. His blockbuster Hollywood slop is all terrible, but every blockbuster Hollywood puts out these days is terrible so I'm unsure if that's his problem.

That Mega-City One streaming show, with an ensemble cast of characters, was the way to go. In a movie there's the expectation for the protagonist to have some sort of arc, and you can't do that with Judge Dredd.

The tone shifts in dredd comics from over the top comedy to serious. There's no set genre in which it would've fit in one movie.
Dredd being one of the last great action flicks is testament to the fact that they made the right decision.
