Young men today are edgy. They are tired of Spider-man "do good" attitude, they want Venom instead, doing bad ass thing and being evil. Kroven is also a spider-man villian and is bad and they thought young mean guys that are edgy would watch Kroven.

At some point they probably had a vague plan for some big crossover, where Spider-Man would fight a Sinister Six or similar team with Venom and Morbius and Kraven and Vulture etc.
Back before they pulled the plug on all of these

Avi Arad. Thats it. For years he was trying to get a soulless Venom movie going. He is why Venom was forced in Spiderman 3. The original Venom unfortunately did well so it gave him more power to attempt to create his own mini cinematic universe. He's also in control of the Metal Gear Solid movie rights so that has absolutely no chance of ever being good

December last year. It flopped horribly, $62 mil gross on a $120 mil budget.
You probably didn't hear about it because it's an extremely generic and formulaic movie which everyone forgets after watching it once- whereas Madame Web had some "so bad it's good" meme and mockery value and was talked about a lot more

These movies are so fucking bizarre because it already is extremely difficult work selling these side characters as their own franchises so you would think that you want to get the best people imaginable but it's the opposite. Like I could understand putting a Taika Waititi om a Spider-Man project since the movie generally prints money whoever makes it but you think with these lesser known characters they would try but they don't. The movies are just bad. Completely unwatchable garbage. What is the goal here?

2016 - 2023 or so will be known as a pretty funny time where every movie company tried to amke their own shared universe/expanded universe and most catastrophically failed.

Just some pretty weird ideas like the Dark Universe, the Hasbro Toy universe, The Hanna Barbera Universe, The M. Night Shamylan Universe. And they plan all this shit out, and it all fails by the first movie as nobody actually cares to see these characters crossover/most of the movies are about literal whos to the casual audiences. It all got real worse after Infinity War and companies thinking they can make the same amount of money but rushing to the big crossover movie.

And this was one of those. The Spider-Man villains an no Spider-Man Universe.

It seems the shared universe crossover fad has died down, but sadly the make a spin off of/try to franchise everything fad is still there.

Venom 2018 was a massive success, grossed $850 million without being much better quality than the others.
So they all (wrongly) thought they could replicate that, by making bad and lazy movies which hopefully would strike gold and be entertaining enough to make money without needing to be good at the same time.

They didn't understand that Venom is a popular enough character to be a box office draw, the others are not and their movies needed to be produced for like $30 million or less, if at all

On paper it's something I would have watched, but in execution I wouldn't even bother.

This movies are the bad result of studio and copyright meddling.
All this shitty Sony movies are spiderman sidecharacters.
But they don't have the rights to make Spiderman, so they are stuck with crazy lame origin stories of otherwise cool characters.
It's tryin to dive into shallow waters.
Like making a Legolas origin story

Sony probably wanted it all to climax with a huge Tom Holland Spider-Man crossover, but Disney/Marvel was only partially open to the idea.
So they got as far as Tom Hardy having a cameo in the No Way Home post credits scene, but then Sony's other movies turned out to be such complete garbage that Disney went "Nah, go and do your own thing but we're no longer interested in working with it"

I guess the point still stands as to why? Why make these movies about literal who's especially when they're so expensive to make at times. Like during the boardroom meetings nobody spoke up and asked "Does anyone care enough about this character to watch tis movie?" or "Will anyone actually come to see this?"

They released the first 10 odd minutes on YouTube a bit before the movie came out, some of the action was a bit iffy when it first started but then when it came time for his actual mistake it just totally fell apart and killed all interest I had.

More than that because actors like ATJ and Russel Crowe are in demand and on the expensive side.
And, have to give Kraven the Hunter credit for a few things, it has some decent action and impressive stunt work and so on, and was shot in a wide variety of locations (Iceland, London, Scotland), instead of tiny greenscreen studios or whatever.

You're all fucking idiots.

This was made because Sony is Japanese with an American media office that out influences it, producing actual shit, and he stars in it because his pedo groomer wife realized he doesn't have the acting chops to take roles that should go to tenured actors, as he's a plastic soiboi, so therefore pushing him into a role that can help pay for their lifestyle. He is basically a genderbent Weinstein victim and it's funny.

Watched The Omen remake the other night. Completely unnecessary movie that adds nothing to the original and manages to make the kid feel like a secondary character instead of the center of attention.. The Thewlis kill was clever but that's about it.
