my thought EXACTLY. i just couldn't believe.

i loved the 1 with all it's flaws but this... this was horrendous. looked like they bought several props like plane, submarine and such for tom to do his stunts, then asked chatgpt to fill in script between the scenes but also try to retconnect old shit.

seriously? 3 hours of this torture, as a grand tom cruise swan song? just obnoxious, superman 2025 is a kino of highest order compared to this trash

Mission Impossible The Final Reckoning 2025 IMAX 1080p AMZN WEB-DL DDP5 1 H 264-WADU.mkv_snapshot_00.05.12.753
it had some awesome action but the pivotal moments of the story were just silly.

>let me built a magic virus on a stick that conveniently fits perfectly onto the ipod shaped source code that's deep in the ocean
>convenient super bomb that only serves to kill luther
>conveniently tom surfaced at the absolute exact point that antwell was expecting him
>convenient the decompression chamber had heating
>convenient a second super bomb at the african hideout because evil spaniard man bought those at a discount
>glowing usb stick that has to be removed at 100ms to capture the genie
>dude brings his eskimo wife because everyone is a spy now
>scoobidoo tier standout at the african hideout
>no one even questioned for a second if the super virus was going to work
>skynet gets captured like a dork

Who watches this shit? What was the appeal of any of the sequels after the iconic original with Jean Reno and that heist scene?

Not to mention the continued trope of Ethan being dead to rights totally fucked until a woman shows up and saves him just in time. This guy would die every mission if it weren't for his mommies saving him.
The plane stunts were pretty damn impressive though knowing that Tom really does most of it.

half the movie is setting up some contrived situations so you'd have "tension" then having a crew literally explain it for 10 minutes because it's so dumb, why you need to cut this or that wire, you have 10 seconds to run, but we can make it, and similar ai generated nonsense
insincere, which cruise didn't used to be

>your mission if you choose to accept it is to infiltrate an obvious stunt plane and climb all over it
great set up, real natural

The plane scene basically being the "epic climax" to the entire franchise is ridiculous. Doesn't help that the scene itself is fucking comical, it feels like it's from a Leslie Nielsen spoof movie.
