it at least tried getting it across to the general public by showing things like IP adresses, difference between software and hardware, logging into the mainframe, etc..
Things that were still completely alien to the public in 1995. A lot of movies from that time went overboard with it like people in cyberpunk outfit "Hack the planet!" or jurassic park girl accessing security for a raptorcage by floating through cubes on the screen ..
