I don't think people know how collaborative big movies are now. The director isn't the be all end all any more. Marvel kind of started the trend where the director is there in name only. Other people are making all the decisions, the director is just the person that translate that to the people below. Being a 20 year old kid, he probably has quite a few adults around him actually calling the shots. I seriously doubt he has any say whatsoever outside of using his youtube videos as a reference.
