I went to a Con this weekend, and I guess I just didn't realize it but it is wild how popular Matthew Lillard still is. His Photo-Op and Autograph areas had to have their own overflow spots, and I'm pretty sure each day he was there when he was at his signing booth he probably had more people in line that almost everybody else combined.

He badly mogged people like Jeremy Renner, William Shatner, Danny Trejo, some of his fellow Scream actors. Even Laura Bailey and Tara Strong, their fanboys were no match. I was just shocked by how much he dominated this Con, I guess I just never realized how popular this dude is. And he does seem like a genuine good dude too, heard nothing but good things.

Did Cats know he was so popular out there?

he's got really 3 type of fans.

the ones from Scream, the ones from Scooby-Doo and now more recently Five Nights At Freddy's.

I was at a Con 2 years ago and he was crushing Chris Evans' lines. And it's not like Chris Evans didn't draw, he had a pretty massive line for his stuff too, it's just it was like maybe 1/2 of what Lillard had. I've been to a lot of Cons, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone draw like him at least in the last 5 years or so.. I think some of these places that book him for the first time they are completely caught off guard by how massive his fanbase is.

Nothing is more evil than the Supernatural Cons. As much as everything is money grubbing, they just take it to the next level. I think Creation has the IP under some sort of long contract but they are extracting every single bit out of it they can.

This is how you know an actor is a washed up has been. They have to resort to showing up at cons to charge suckers $100 a pop for a photo and signature

There's lots of stuff at cons that's kinda neat to see, but you'll have to pay twice what it's worth and wait in line with a horde of sweaty pathetic weirdos who are foaming at the mouth about it. The best part is usually some kind of artist alley where the struggling nobodies might actually be doing something creative.

I got brought to a ComicCon in Australia by a middling famous actor friend of mine, and Matt was there too. Can confirm he was stupidly popular with the second most popular person being a guy called Mark Sheppard (who was based and showed me a lot of photos on his phone of young thots who sent him pics). Gotta say, as someone who has learned repeatedly "don't meet your heroes", I wasn't too excited even though he's my favourite part of Scream. But he's a wonderful guy. He's really funny and genuine. He does drink a fair bit, but honestly considering how quick witted he was, it was pretty hilarious to watch and didn't seem like a problem at all for him

I think what's happening here is something a bit different
It's not that Mathew Lilard has more fans than Chris Evans
It's that the sort of people who go to comic conventions are more likely to care about Lilard than Evans, and also the type of person who is a "fan" of an actor will tend to gravitate to cult actors like Lilard more than mainstream darlings like Evans
