>adapt a 200 page novella into a 2 and a half hour movie
>have to invent a whole side quest chain to kill time before Bond gets to the point where the book starts
>the actual plot doesn't start until halfway through
Do people who say this is the best Bond film forget the superfluous Bourne movie before the Casino Royale part?

The 1967 version is better in basically every way. I love that movie.

the side quest is from an unfilmed script for a Jinx spinoff, Halle Berry's character from Die Another Day

I wouldnt mind miniseries adaptions of the bond books with period settings. Unless the series starts remaking the books which is less than likely there is no reason that cannot happen other than tightfisted producers.
