There's a dead hooker in almost every episode, and it's always handled hilariously badly by the main characters. There's one where the pink lady from True Stories runs a cafe and a hooker gets murdered right in front of her building but when the cops come she's like "I don't know shit, I only care about these croissants" and it takes all episode for anyone to notice that she has surveillance cameras. There's one where Nathan Lane is a shitty stand-up comedian who tries to rough up a prostitute but she stabs him to death. There's one where Kramer is a cocaine kingpin who is blackmailing a judge over gambling debts. There's one where the bloodsucking lawyer from Jurassic Park is a transvestite assassin, and then after he dies he just shows up later as a different character. There's one where Giancarlo Esposito is a coke dealer who gets shredded by a shotgun in a crowded cafe by some punk hooligans, and then he also just shows up later as a different coke dealer. There's a multi-episode arc where the actual guy who broke into Watergate plays a thinly-veiled version of himself covering up the fact that cocaine was being smuggled inside the bodies of Vietnam War casualties. There's one where Bruce Willis is selling stinger missiles on the black market and also beating his homely wife just for fun. There's one where the police lieutenant played by Edward James Olmos turns out to be a ninja and he's being chased by an undercover KGB agent played by Karl from Succession. And while all of this insane shit is happening, there's fantastic music and every character is dressed like an actual clown. It's fucking amazing.

Don't get me wrong, it does suck. It's really stupid and uneven, and a lot of the acting is shit. But it's a pretty fun watch actually in the year 2025.

boomers will shit on your post but you have a point. but it's also important to note that miami vice came out when most detective shows (and tv in general) were boring ass garbage, they at least made it hip

I'm outright recommending that young people watch it though. As a realistic cop show it's bad, but it's a fascinating piece of tv history and pretty entertaining.
