FIRST one wasn't that bad.
It was a spinoff, people loved it, that's why they made more.
But then they decided that spin-off wasn't enough, and they tried to tie it to main Harry Potter canon
What the FLYING fuck has Dumbledore and grindelwald has to do with fantastic beasts and where to find them

The first one kinda works as its own thing but then they ruined it with the Grindelwald reveal. The other ones are just pointless garbage that could have worked if they weren't tied to the first one and the Newt character.

first one worked because it was a short story leeching on the Harry Potter universe, some nice monsters here and there, altough i cant stand that fucking faggot as a main character. The thing is, they were trying to build up the hype to the fight between Dumbledore and Grindewald, they should have made just the second one to end it all.

these movies were all extremely boring with lame or annoying characters. audiences rejected them because they all fucking sucked. the whole appeal of harry potter was it was kid to YA fantasy, you introduce older adults and it doesn't work. it's just lame.

The franchise has serious branding issues. As people about the following media

>Harry Potter
Oh yeah, what about it?/Not really a fan, leave me alone.

>Hogwarts Legacy
Oh that's the Harry Potter game, right?

>Wizarding World
What? Is that what they call Harry Potter Land at Universal Studios?

>Fantastic Beasts
Is that related to Harry Potter?

Fantastic Beasts clearly should have been just a side story. Then they could have done another side story that also features Grindelwald as a supporting villain before making the third movie explicitly

It was incredibly forgettable. There's three of them and I don't have enough recollection to recall even one film's worth. Literally the only think I remember from the second film, trying to think over it, is I think there was a scene with a bunch of fire. That's it.

kids... imagine if your school with your friends and all, was like a magic school that you lived at and you were away from parents and there was GIRLS there (boys if you're a girl) and you could like sneak to their part at night and also there's like comfy magic and heroics.
NOW imagine... after that, you know how, in the past, gay men had to keep it secret, well they meet up in like public toilets in London, right. well imagine if that was magic too... !

I liked the parts of the movie about the fantastics beasts and where to find them. I didn't care for the rest of the stuff about the obscurial. It felt like two movies being forced into one. I think they should have made two separate movies. Also I really liked the Jacob and Queenie. I heard they destroyed Queenie's character in the second movie so I never watched it.

The first one was cool if you ignore the Grimdewald bullshit part, I was just interested in the autist wanting to get his fantastic creatures back. The sequels could have had cameos and fan services, Dumbledore appearing in a bar, etc., but they should have focused on adventures leading the autist and his mugle friend to discover creatures around the world, like a legendary dragon in a forest in the Amazon, insects controlling the time in Australia, etc.

Fantastic beats does have a real life printed version yes but the vast portion of people going to this film knew the books from its repeated mention in the fucking book series as an in universe book.
The author of the book is mentioned in Harry Potter at least once and referred to as something like the greatest wizard beast master guy ever.

The third film was so bad. The first 40 mins are dedicated to summarizing the plot of the previous film, and nothing happens in the plot.

I disagree with the reddit opinion that these films should have been about "fantastic beasts". Thats boring as shit. The problem is that the grindlewald shit was flubbed hard

First one was well-liked and had a great muggle character we could all relate with and ended up sacrificing his experience to maintain order. Then the second one came along and casually made that sacrifice barely an inconvenience to get passed. And besides that, the whole thing pretty much sucked. The less said about the third one, the better.

Well the first fantastic beast was pretty popular, and I remember it being on a similar level of enjoyment as the Potter films.
But the first one was already not about fantastic beasts, like sure Ezra Miller was some kind of beast, being a repressed wizard. Then the second movie was more about Ezra running away to join a circus... And like the Asian women who could become a snake, that's the fantastic beast I guess .. she would become Nagini somehow that's kinda cool, crazy how much pre publication was on exactly that.
Then the 3rd came out and the fantastic beast was mads Mikkelsen as depp was thrown out because of amber herrd.

But everyone would agree they wanted some kind of technical level avatar and Newt being some up close and personal nature filmography or big game Hunter, and instead we got wizard civil rights

It failed because it wasn't about Fantastic Beasts. I expected some adventures about a guy who liked magical creatures having fun with them. Instead, we got an autist who was such a charisma void that the Muggle was a more memorable character.

>>213813010
Yeah, it was so weird. She joined Grindelwald because she believed he would make the world change into people accepting Muggle/Wizard relationships. Jacob didn't like that so he left and she still remained with Grindelwald, which feels like she was ready to force him to return via magic. That never made sense.

The first film was close to being good. If they removed all the lore bloat and just focused on the main character and his beasts it would have worked (the magic is always the best part of these films). Instead it gets bogged down in bullshit with Johnny Depp disguising himself so he can groom that kid. Just lame.

Incorrect. The first one wasn't that bad, but it didn't perform like they wanted so they sidelined the more original elements in favor of tie-in elements.
