That IS the way it works. You keep going. Every week you're reminded why you're doing it. Every week you have other people backing you up. Every week you have them giving you that little bit of strength not to pick up a bottle or pop of pill or pull out a needle. Its when you stop going you lose that support. You lose those reminders. You lose that little bit of strength that tips the scales. Its not a perfect system but sometimes all you need is other people like you reminding you to stay strong

>Vodka was the primary alcohol he consumed. He frequently referred to drinking vodka tonics, and at more severe points, straight vodka.
>At one point, he was consuming a quart of vodka per day. That’s approximately 950 milliliters—nearly a whole bottle—on a daily basis
>He said his “best part of the day” was “six vodka tonics every night.”
>Given typical vodka-to-tonic volumes, that could translate to roughly 250–300 ml of straight vodka if prepared in standard ways

Ironically my dad finally got sober AFTER stopping going to AA. He drank for 30 years straight and has been sober for 10 now without a single relapse, despite having plenty of reason to.

AA is fucking toxic, you're around a bunch of other weak willed bitches in a cult praying to a "higher power" which tells all their members that they have an incurable disease that they'll have to fight against every day forever. Fucking crazy that it even exists or that its court mandated, getting forced to attend cult meetings because you fucked up once or twice. Like if you beat the shit out of an illegal alien, imagine if they sent you to Heaven's Gate to learn to be more accepting of outsiders. Or if you did a racism and were put in Jim Jones' Peoples Temple to learn about how niggers are people. LMAO.

I wouldn’t be alove today without the program

I drank hard for twenty years but I quit.
Rock bottom + wanting to quit is the only way. I have seven years now.

But I smoke the reefer. Gotta have something to take the edge off. And as alternatives go, weed is damn safe. But I could do meth and it'd be a step up. Nothing will ever be as destructive to my life as booze was.

The foundational problem with AA is that it entails living for something greater than yourself, which is a lie. The right way to quit drinking is out of pure autistic rational self-interest, selfishness, narcissism, or whatever else you may want to call it, because to do so is to do so for the right reasons, pure self-interest. To quit drinking out of concern for one's loved ones, some imagined god and so on, is a monstrous indignity which infringes on the most important subject that has ever existed, or will ever exist: the self.
