The Dark Knight is a shite movie people pretend to like because Ledger heroed. That said, his suicide is odd;Malcolm McDowell played a similar character without killing himself. The film has laughable action, boring characters, dumb dialogue, and a nonsensical idiot plot full of bored idiots. IRL mob would have just shot the joker and be done with it.

The Dark Knight Rises is even dumber movie. The intro scene is retarded, IRL CIA wouldn't just believe Marketta man, IRL entire police department wouldn't just enter the sewers etc. Action is even worse somehow.

A lot of the dialogue was stupidly written. Two face was wasted. Fight scenes were average. A lot of batman stuff was underused overall. And nothing felt like Gotham, it was almost too grounded.

I'm thinking most everything about these films sucked. Joker had some okay lines and they were well delivered and Two-face looked cool in my opinion but other than that I can't think of anything I like about this trilogy and I haven't been able to fully rewatch any of the three films in like the past ten years, I end up switching to something else.

Wrong.

Ledger's performance was a masterpiece, the way he articulated the character was unique and his delivery was masterful.

>Bad acting and line dialogue
>Bloated plot that could have been cut down by half
>Ignoring Joker cuz actor died was bullshit
>League of Shadows go from secret society of ninjas to generic terrorists

The trilogy already started to derail off a cliff by TDK but people overlooked all of the fumbled details because of Ledger's performance, which btw, while it was good I will give it that, people like to act like it's the greatest performance of all time which it's not it's just that people were shocked to see a performance like that from ledger of all people.

Anyway lets talk about all of the shit that sucks just from The Dark Knight alone, not even mentioning rises.

>Maggie Gyllenhaal was a terrible replacement for Rachel and all of the scenes that include her are either forgettable or don't make enough sense to work.
>Gary Oldman as James Gordon is still easily one of his most famous roles, while yet every scene with him barely allows room for him to show off his real acting chops. Every scene involving him and GPD is very generic and shallow.
>Harvey Dent. I mean, do I need to say more. Most people forget that he was even in the film.
>Lucius Fox is so terribly underutilized people forget Morgan Freeman was even in the movie. Like, how do you have a film with Morgan Freeman and then upon rewatch go "Oh YEAAHHH, I forgot Morgan Freeman was in this!"
>Decent, but not nearly enough good Batman scenes. Where is the Detective work? Why does this film almost feel like a psychological thriller rather than a dark crime action movie like it should with batman?
>Christian Bale's voice as batman is still laughable, he doesn't sound monotone but imposing, he sounds like he's trying his hardest to hold in a shit.
>Whole 3rd act just falls completely to shit especially with Rachel dead already she should have been part of the final dilemma but they blew the smoke way to early so the ending didn't hit nearly as hard as it could have.

They had so little involvement from major female characters (not even Barbara Gordon as a little kid, instead replaced by her obscure brother) that my sister actually bought into the "Bane is Ras Al Ghul's kid" misdirection because she just accepted that they had retconned Talia.

Nah. You were probably 4 years old when the dark knight rises came out so you have no idea how cool bane was. Everyone in highschool thought Tom hardy was so jacked as Bane. Tom’s Bane left an imprint on an entire generation of teenagers who were just starting to hit the gym. He was a meme but he was a cool meme. I remember some jacked kids going as bane for Halloween that year. Bane was cool. The trilogy as a whole hasn’t aged very well tho. Batman’s voice is retarded, the fight scenes are corny, but Bane is still a fun villain.

He wasn't clever, he didn't do detective shit, he didn't use cool gadgets, he basically just barreled arms flailing every fight, and not even elegantly, just plain punches.

The only gadget he used was shooting some stupid flare up during his fight with bane, but otherwise he just was punch punch punch

Nah, it was genuinely a great theater experience. Back then this was just something you'd expect to see on a given Sunday, with shit like No County For Old Men and other successful Oscar-bait coming out in between, and this being the "popcorn" cinema. Meanwhile today it's a small miracle when something that's even watchable comes out once a year.

Worst depiction of Batman ever put on screen. Strip all comic book elements out of Batman to make it as boring and generic as possible. Strip all mystique out of the character and have everything spoon fed to you. Have Fox the Magic Negro Man figure shit out and make all of Batman’s shit. Have Batman accomplish nothing in Dark Knight except get outsmarted and out played the entire movie by the Joker. And Rises is a dumpster fire of idiocy

FPBP. The entire trilogy is uninspired shit for normies and comic book posers. Batman Begins is an overly long and boring origin story with nothing notable to say. The much acclaimed Dark Knight, was all hype. I never enjoyed the picture nor it's babies-first-crime-drama themes. If Ledger didn't die, nobody would have given a shit. Then there's TDKR which might as well be only remembered as a meme at this point. Bane is a joke, the plot is nonsensical and the effects are somehow worse than the film that came out 3/4 years earlier.

Tldr, awful trilogy from a hack director

Yeah and it was shit. I know /tv/ contrarians jerk off to "so bad it's good" material, but no human being with actual taste would prefer that shit to Nolan Batman. In fact, if Nolan Batman came out today without any alterations to it (to appeal to modern political sensibilities), it would be praised just the same.

Like the time where he built a suit of armor that was powered by demons from hell and he flew around the universe fighting darkside, but then the batman who laughs showed up and they clashed in space as millions of batmen from alternate universes rained down from the sky, and batman used his 12th level super intelligence (even though againg he's just a normal guy) to deduce the antilife equation in an alternate universe and threw them all in arkham with the condiment king!

Not re-casting The Joker was a mistake.

In the comics The Joker has done all sorts of crazy shit to his face including cutting it off and using it as a skin mask. So it would have been easy to cast another actor and stick a latex death mask taken from Heath Ledger's corpse on his face, but Nolan chickened out.

Instead we got the Scarecrow taking The Joker's role in part 3 at the last minute with minimal re-writing, the whole scene feels off as a result of the character not matching its actions and means there is no point at all to the 2nd film in overall.

Nolan certainly forgot about Batman being a trained ninja who deals in stealth after Begins. Him showing up throwing big wide haymakers getting his shit kicked in by random goons ganging up on him.

I think all of these movies are boring and soulless. They certainly are better than the marvel slop that came after it but there's something to be said about making a super hero movie and being ashamed of the fact that it is a super hero movie.

Spider-Man 1 and 2 are so insanely superior to these movies that it's not even funny

Second film has a fucking mess of a third act. This is nornal with Nolan though, as is his horrible editing (which is obvious when he cites Michael Bay as an inspiration).

I prefer the Dark Knight films, but your point still stands and is indicative of pre-Spider-Man capeslop between the O.G. Superman and Spider-Man. All the directors were like
>Fuck, I have to make a cape-slop
>Okay, I'll make something else entirely and put a cape-fag in it
Spider-Man was when a director said
>I'm just gonna put a Cape-Slop as-is on screen

Second half of TDK is actually way overrated. Joker's plans make no sense and Health Ledger's performance gets old. And Aaron Eckhart was a total miss, he can't emote for shit.

Batman could have had better fight choreography. Also the third one was underwhelming compared to 1 & 2. Still the best Batman movies though.

I really can’t get over what a colossal fuckup Rises was. They had the perfect setup for a great Batman movie coming off of TDK.
>Batman wanted by the cops, no longer working with them and a true vigilante
>mob is all but destroyed between Joker and the Dent Act
>good foreshadowing about Gotham slowly being filled with more looneys due to Batman’s presence
This last point especially. It was hinted strongly during Gordon’s escalation speech at the end of BB and Joker’s interrogation scene in TDK. This was also a major theme in Long Halloween and Dark Victory. Batman’s presence marks the turn from organized mob violence to comic book freaks coming out of the woodwork. We could’ve had a third Nolan movie where a hunted, jaded Batman is fighting an assortment of classic villains in a changed Gotham. Instead Nolan decided Batman was going to just quit and Gotham was going to become boring. I truly believe he nuked his own trilogy plans after Ledger died and phoned in Rises.

I used to believe that too, but he wasn't under contract to do a 3rd one. He was the one who approached WB with a script and he keeps going to bat for this movie.

If it was phoned in he would've just ignored it in interviews

TDK is full of awkward exposition and dialogue, and some other silliness, and TDKR is just lazy and generally terrible, although unintentionally funny. The only think that was done right is Batman Begins is mostly okay. And Ledger is pretty cringe in TDK.

Just doesn't sound like a movie that he never wanted to do

I figured CIA might have noticed that one of the hooded mercs he picked up was like a foot taller and 150 pounds heavier than the rest, but then I remember that Nolan's Bane is sometimes 5'7 when he can't be standing on a soapbox (like he obviously is in the 'I'm necessary evil' scene)

Batman Begins is the only one that even pretends to happen in Gotham City and has a minimum of mystery about the setting.
The latter two are just set in Chicongo.
