I watched the first season or two of Lost and thats it. Never seen a single second of 1-3, maybe 1 episode of wire, no mad men and I've seen the twin peaks movie fire walk with me a few times and love it but still never the show at all except very recently I finally saw the pilot episode and I think maybe the first episode or maybe just the first half if it.

You won't miss much. It's about politics, much of it communism, which was en vogue among American academics in the 30s and 40s. And it's 3 hours long. Phew.
It got a few Oscars, but does that really mean anything anymore when even films like "Emilia Perez" are nominated?

But starting with season 2 David Lynch didn't direct anymore and the whole thing turned into a project intended just to keep actors and film people occupied and paid. At least that's what it felt like. I guess they found a different intern every week to write a script for a new episode, but the real story is so drawn out nobody cares anymore. It gets better once they finally decided to fucking finish the show.
