Now that the dust has settled, I think we can all agree that True Detective Season 2 was a masterpiece and that anyone who prefers Season 1 is probably a Reddit atheist who just self-inserts into Rust's "epic own" moments that the show was actually making fun of
Caspere knew this, Raymond.
>>213862375 (OP)I used to think this but I rewatched this season a few months ago and it really is a fucking mess. It wouldn't be so bad if it was just Velcoro and Frank. Scrap the girlboss cop and the fag cop and it would trim a lot of the fat.
I've always loved it. I wish I could watch it again for the first time.
>>213862483shut the fuck up you mentally stunted closeted faggot
>pretend
>4 leads when it should have been 2
>Rachel McAdams character is completely unnecessary and could be removed without issue
>Taylor kitcsh character it's all the screen time with his girlfriend who's pregnant and he is secretly a fag.... This goes utterly nowhere. He dies randomly because he didn't check his corners... The girlfriend is never seen again and all of his screen time was completely pointless cuz it went nowhere
>Vince Vaughn's character dies cuz he didn't want to remove his jacket
>Colin's character dies before calling his son
The the whole season feels like a waste of time. And I mean that in a literal way. Subplots that go nowhere or endings that feel incomplete and unsatisfying. It's just a miserable season of television with no payoff.
At least in true detective season 1, for all the misery and pain, the light winds in the end and there's hope.
>>213862621Wins*
Voice to text because I'm lazy
>>213862621They spent so much time explaining how Israelis use gambling and blackmail to achieve ends that they forgot to keep the plot steady
>>213862530keep coping that this season is somehow kino
>>213862621The last ep was dumb shit.
>I must go undercover as a prostitute to learn… rich people like having sex with consenting adult partners
>>213862375 (OP)I enjoyed it, but Season 1 is the only real True Detective. Season 3 was pretty good as well.
4 protagonists was too many
ani never went undercover in a sex orgy. it was a letdown
>my terrible secret is… I had sex while underage and liked it
>>213862375 (OP)>Rust's "epic own" moments that the show was actually making fun ofDid people actually not understand that? That’s why I liked it. Not that he’s necessarily wrong about the stuff he says sometimes
>>213864482This would mindbreak half the world if someone like Taylor Swift said it
>>213862621>>Vince Vaughn's character dies cuz he didn't want to remove his jacket>>Colin's character dies before calling his sonIt's a noir anon. Bad ends coming to flawed people with dirty hands is sort of the basis of the genre.
>>213862375 (OP)I don't. The dream sequence in the bar is pvre lvdokino.
>>213862375 (OP)>You KGB kike motherfucker!what did Vince mean by this?
>a million characters and subplots
>none of them end in a satisfying way
>>213864552You mean the woman who released a 13 song album when she was 18 and each song was about one of her boyfriends?
It was a terrible season. But I still had fun watching it live with tv.
So..... is this the thread?
>>213865307If she released a song called “I fucked a 30 yo guy at 15 and liked it” the internet would be unusable for a few years
I didn’t watch it when it aired. I saw a t later and enjoyed it the first time through. I tried it a second time pretty recently and I didnt finish the season.
I liked season 2. It wasn't as good as 1 but I did enjoy it
>>213862790Not really. Season 3 is a poor man's version of season 1.. completely forgettable.
>>213862375 (OP)My opinion its not a masterpiece but it really has a great premise , the execution couldve been better and with more time it couldve been refine, it achieve a goal a little bit less than 1, still fucking great, i was hoping the detectives were gonn come together in later seasons
>>213864569It's trash retard, get over it
Season 1 of True Detective stands apart primarily because of its use of dual timelines. The ten-year separation between the past and present scenes fundamentally changes how each moment is perceived. You’re watching events unfold with the fog of hindsight, where memory, trauma, and identity have all shifted. It mimics the Rashomon effect in that the truth becomes unstable because time distorts understanding.
It signals that True Detective was never meant to be a conventional, linear procedural. It's insane that none of these high paid Hollywood writers could figure out the one thing that made it work and replicate it
The real truth nuke is that s1 is so much revered here because Rust's character is what average /tv/cels constantly wetdream to be: strong, smart, cynical all-girls-want-them Gary Stues, while Rey is what they actually are: weak, unsure, uncertain, emotionally unstable and traumatized persons.
