Kripke and his writers room were mad that people liked the villains and didn't like the protagonists and lacked the intelligence and talent to understand why this was always going to be the case.
Worse, they then made the second blunder of being so out of touch that they thought the audience just didn't understand the political messaging of the show and that the villains were supposed to be satirical and evil, rather than the audience understanding and not caring. So they continuously doubled down on trying to offend the "wrong sort" of viewer, make their political messaging as obtuse as possible, and their inherently unlikable protagonists likable and righteous as possible.

Asian Female street gangs have become a menace to a certain demographic.

There are a lot of problems but the major one is that it feels like they've been treading water for the last 2 seasons.
Season 2 had the right idea in making Stormfront the main villain.
Season 3 and 4 should've continued that trend. Have someone The Boys can spend the season defeating to get closer to Homelander and feel like something was accomplished.
The Boys should have never been just The Homelander show. He's the main villain but making him the character key to everything was a bad move because they can't defeat him until the end of the show so every time he's about to go crazy or get killed it just doesn't mean anything.
Someone like Tek Knight being a joke character killed off in a single episode was a dumb move. They could've spent a season figuring out who he is, what his weaknesses are, visited his home base (like a Gotham parody), etc.

It could have just been super hero murder porn but it had to be 1:1 analogous commentary on social media news items with tight moral messaging and authority that is reflected in plot developments and character arcs. My favourite bullshit plot moment was the end of S1 where the 2 guys are captured, so Hughie gets himself captured to sneak in a lockpick. He had no way of knowing they would all be locked up together, and a single guard stationed in the room would have prevented the whole thing.

For some reason they just stopped giving a fuck after S1. Homelander's actor stopped working out and his design was slightly simplified, Asian chick was blatantly wearing makeup with manicured eyebrows despite supposedly being borderline feral with PTSD, the plot went from slowly making progress inch by inch to being a villain of the week side quest. It just seems like they didn't care as much as S1 and it affected the entire show. Maybe they figured they struck gold and thought they could do anything.

S1 was interesting since if felt like there was a plot actually going somewhere and building up to taking down the seven, with the translucent being the first big challenge, and it was fun seeing the boys figure out how to kill him, considering how weak they were. But by S2 all of the other seven members (and supes) were just used to make political/social statements and basically nothing else, and the ways the boys got themselves out of situations was super contrived. S3 was kinda interesting with solider boy and his backstory, but the ending ruined it completely

The first season is about lower class resentment building up against an elite class that can get away with essentially anything, even negligent manslaughter, completely unscathed.
That resonated with people, so they liked it. I'm sure the showrunners knew what they were doing, so when I say it was an accident, I mean on Amazon corporate's part.
The rest of the seasons felt like the exact opposite, it went from punching up to punching down. Now all of the bad guys, instead of representing scumbag elites in general, started to just represent populism and stupid poors and how stupid poors are easily tricked by populism.

A show gets made and its first season becomes a massive hit, causing the Eye of Sauron to turn and cast its gaze upon this new success. They did the same thing to the 3rd or 4th final season of Man in the High Castle, and if they can't meddle it gets cancelled like the Expanse, even that Wheel of Time show got fucked even though it was one of Amazons' most watched series, probably more than the Lord of the Rings blunder they're still supporting.

It's not even that violent. Like 95% of it is poorly written drama for women.

The first season of The Boys started strong and promising, setting up a story about taking down The Seven. By the second season it was clear most episodes went nowhere and the writers would not kill important characters. Because, for some reason, they deviated from the original revolutionay premise, Butcher wanting to end the current superhero system, to a wierd mixt of familial drama and heavy political undertone. Not only did the story deviated from original comic book structure but the writer themselves seems to have no idea of what to do with it outside gore porn and political/social commentary. Bear in mind the original story had all of those, but it was more about corporatism rather than current year lib/cons drama.

Then they tried to stretch the story too thin as if they wanted 10 seasons out of this story which led to a feeling of aimlessness and stagnation. Not only that but eaxh seaons takes 2 to 3 year to make so nobody wants to wait that long for basically nothing. And since all episode are now frame for goreporn, the shock value is long gone.
