Realistically your dating pool was relegated to the few available men you met at work or parties and in your 30s that number was pretty small when you excluded people who were bums or had substance problems. Looks were not as important because you didn’t have many opportunities to actually gauge looks in a competitive way

I'm a sub5 manlet not bald and I had hot girlfriends and sex before dating apps. Impossible now

George was very good at lying his way to get what he wanted. His neuroticism would prevent any real long term goals being met, but by that time he already would have had sex with the girl he was attracted to before having that blow up and move onto the next girl. Susan was unique because she met George at the right time when his life wasn't pure chaos and he didn't actually need to lie or try to be someone he's not for her to like him.

A good amount were out of his league, but it's always possible since he was charming. Women are willing to overlook some physical aspects if you have charisma.
