Eh, most of the duels in the books were just "bad guy firing lasers" vs. "good guy firing lasers (set for stun)". The only ones who actually did interesting shit with their magical skills were Dumbledore, Voldemort, and the Hogwarts professors. I do agree the movies absolutely ruined the whole point of Harry's final encounter with Voldemort, though.

Half Blood Prince is the best book and the worst movie

They ripped out most of Voldemort's backstory that's absolutely crucial to the plot and character, and the parts they left they changed him from a charming and charismatic leader to an autistic school shooter
