Killing Sam's character was a mistake desu. He was a lot more fun than the other characters they kept. I am only going to tune into 3 body problem S2 for Davos at this point.

I couldn't help but compare it to the books. The first book is mostly not very good. The show does nothing to fix any of the stupid shit (like Wang Miao's scary countdown to nothing) and can't find a way to integrate the interesting parts that redeem it (like creating the sophons). Also, it's silly that almost every character who does anything important in the books is Chinese, but the show makes it much worse by making them all classmates at Oxford instead. It makes the conflict feel much smaller.

The second book is better, and I think it can make excellent TV. They only burned a little bit of the material from it in S1.

Also the casting for every last character is unbelievably terrible.

Harsh agree, most characters are despisable, especially the main character.

The show really did ruin some good stuff from the books. The dialogs about the bugs or the funeral procession were within context and added to the characters and story, meanwhile in the show they're just said because the book had those lines.

Really wondering how they are going to adapt the central theme of book 2 explicitly being "don't give power to women, it will end life on earth"
