Why was Raimi's Spiderman 3 so hated?

Movies useed to be good and peoples standards were higher.
That same summer Pirates of THe Caribean 3, Transformers 1, Harry Potter 5, The Bourne Ultimatum, Fantastic Four 2, and The Simpsons Movie all came out. Most of those sucked but Transformers 1 was probably the most interesting and unique blockbuster that summer. Spiderman 3 was just weird.

Capeshit wasn't such an all-consuming mass market at the time, this was a decade or two before disney plus slop. We didn't know how good we had it and we didn't know how bad it was gonna get. This one seemed bloated and tonally confused compared to the first two. But by today's standards, it ranks a lot higher atop a massive pile of dull, inessential, low-effort capeslop

Saw it again recently after years and it' a good movie. I don't know why I thought it was shit back then.

Fucked up venom and not enough carnage. Even symbiote spidey was cringe. First two were fun and people greatly anticipated the 3rd but the ball was dropped and it didn't meet expectations. A shameful display

it's a bad movie. the idea 'let's do spiderman but instead of in a costume he'll be walking around like an average joe for two hours' is an awful idea, maybe it works for five minutes, it doesnt work for a movie, the whole point of the guy is to be in a dumb suit swinging around. i think the badguy was kind of shit too. i still remember i bought a ticket for this, prepaid, bought it online i guess to pick up at the theater, but then didnt feel like going, so i bought another ticket in a couple of days and watched it so i paid twice to watch this turd once

Too many villains and subplots I guess, but that was because of Sony's interference. Raimi wanted Sandman to be the primary villain of the film without Venom, but the studio insisted that Venom had to be in the film. I love Venom as much as the next guy, but he didn't need to be in the film. In any case, Spider-Man 3 is underrated. All three Raimi Spider-Man films are capekino. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has existed for a whopping 17 years now, but Spider-Man 2 remains the greatest superhero film of all time to this day. No Marvel Cinematic Universe film can touch any Raimi Spidey film and that includes Spider-Man 3.

Transformers 1 was fucking kino. It almost feels like it had no right to be as good as it was. It was one of the most pleasant surprises I've ever had in the theater. It's the quintessential summer popcorn blockbuster masterpiece by Based Bay, who has a knack for cool sound effects and visual flair.

There's literally nothing wrong with the film, people didn't like that Raimi wasn't all over their faggot emo shit and wasn't very interested in the 90's kid >what if protag but evil venom character

All things considered, if venom was just bulkier and the villains had a single make over more (Sandman does look kind of weird with the appaled permanent expression on his face) in apparerence and characterizaton it would be a very solid third act

I don't think the film is bloated at all, people that wanted a slower pace like 1 or 2 say that but Eddie Brooke and Sandman were worked enough, not to say about Osbourne
