For a series that prides itself on being shocking and brutal and depressing and dark and yadda yadda yadda it’s strange that they didn’t do the shocking depressing brutal dark choice to kill the baby right at the end. That would have been insane and we’d still be talking about it rather then memory-holing this slop.

Gi-hoon's arc basically ended in season 1. He really should have been killed off much earlier and replaced with another character and then maybe the show wouldn't be memory-holed.
Season 2 and 3 had way too many characters already and none of them were fleshed out enough.

The "shock" would be that the baby's dad was willing to kill him, but Gi-hun has a savior arc that needed a final sacrifice.
It's more disappointing that most people guessed it was going to come down to the pregnant mom/the baby, or him, and we were right. It would have been a lot more fun to kill the mom earlier.
It was really really bad anyway. Another "only watch S1 and forget it exists" show.
