It is one of those shows that was made to be appreciated rather than enjoyed. You might like it, but you'll probably be better off watching Aqua Teen Hunger Force or Metalocalypse since, ultimately, they are more honest shows.

I'd say as soon as it felt like it needed to have a continuous running plot with massive changes to the format each season it started losing a lot of steam. Especially stuff like splitting Brock up from them and everything post David Bowie with the villain society.

Also a bit annoying it didn't really let the Venture Bros themselves have proper romance without it blowing up in their faces, even when they matured up and showed they could be good boyfriends.

Yes, but the first season is a little primative.
The appeal might not click for you until season 2 or 3.
A lot of the humour is character jokes that take a lot of episodes to establish and niche references to classic movies, music, comics and history.
Don't listen to fags who say it gets worse after season 3, they are fags who can't handle any change. It's not even drastic changes either, its just plot progression.

If the reality was that the show slowly releases more seasons over another two decades until one of the two creators dies or can’t do the voices anymore, then the show ended in a good place and the movie, while rushed, was satisfying enough to put a cap on the series. First seasons a bit rough but solid, 2-5 are great and really suck you in but some over arching stuff like monarch and dean's relationships can feel a bit repetitive and wheel spinny. The last 2 season feel half baked but still decent enough and the movie is rush to shit but has a satisfying enough end cap that can easily still lead to another season if adult swim stops being the fucking worst.
The worst part of venture bros is it really Over uses the big set up, intently underwhelming pay off joke. It has some problems but overall is a fantastic show, it's really something special.

Great up to season 3, then it crawls up its own ass with the lore, and all the plot twists and turns can bit difficult to follow at times because everyone talks like they’re coked up and doing silly voices that can be difficult to understand sometimes. I never watched the finale movie, or even the final season, because I thought “All This and Gargantua-2” was as close to a perfect way to end the series as you can get.

I agree with other anon that it was at its best when it was just a parody of Johnny Quest/60s comic books for the first three seasons.

It’s a lot more than plot progression… Hank and dean start off being almost interchangeable. Then Hank starts emulating Brock and becomes more macho than Dean… and then Hank becomes somewhat of a demigod while Dean remains a cuck.

I think the later seasons retroactively make season 1 better. Arreas in Science for example pays off so much season 1 shit. Watching Careers in Science in season 1 for the first time that wouldnt be apparent though.
I think it has a couple of standout episodes too like Past Tense and Return to Spider Skull Island.
Rusty reacting to the flashback where they are playing dnd in Past Tense is one of my fav lines

Not really. It's great, but the Venture Bros ultimately has a really unsatisfying, unfulfilling, rushed ending with it's movie that recently came out.
Watch it if you'd like, because it can be pretty fucking hilarious, but DO NOT get invested into the story/lore.
