>What is Ririkuru?
Ririkuru is a franchise that started out as a series of drama CDs but then went on to get a visual novel which was picked up and translated by Mangagamer.
>Where do I start?
That's a good question. Obviously the two choices are starting with the drama CDs or with the VN. I would recommend the former, as the VN doesn't really bother with introducing the characters too much. Unfortunately of the drama CDs relevant to the VN only half are translated - Vols 1, 2 and 3. Translated by anons from /u/ I might add as somehow Mangagamer figured they don't wanna bother. 4, 5 and 6 remain untranslated but there are sequel CDs to Vols 1-2-3 that cover Winter and Summer activities of the three couples and those CDs are translated.
If you plan to start with VN I strongly suggest to listen to the drama CDs when you hit relevant story events in the VN - each couple has their own and they share the title with the drama CDs.

So did anyone buy and listen to ๅฐ‘ๅฅณ่ปŒ้“ใฎใƒชใƒฆใƒ‹ใ‚ชใƒณ? Been out for almost a week now. I'm thinking about it, but the price is, as usual for Particle, on the steeper side for audio dramas.

I've been keeping an eye on it but somehow I found myself looping through not being in the mood to sit down and listen to it even though I have the time and being in the mood but not having the time. I'll get there eventually. They chose a pretty elaborate setting considering it's yuri audio dramas, kinda curious what they did it.
Do share your opinion if you ever get around to listening to it yourself.

Apparently Particle is dead. The parent company, Pencil, is focusing on its core revenue streams (something which is quite common in the current recession period), and Particle sales were relatively small, to nobody's surprise. Pencil doesn't want to take risks on new projects with an inherently smaller audience. A VN based on LLC Heart was planned, but is now cancelled.
Fumiya is saying that the sales of LLC Heart and Reunion weren't that bad, they were just worse than Pencil's 18+ and otome games, and the company needs to cut expenses so it naturally chose to cut the worse performers. As a result, Fumiya chose to leave the company (the company let Particle exist as long as it's not in the red and Fumiya helps out elsewhere, without Particle he's not terribly motivated to work on that other stuff).

I'm thinking of importing the discs, as indeed the DLsite/Booth prices even with sales (15%... haha...) and coupons are a bit too much, and even with shipping and import taxes physical might end up being cheaper. All I bought digitally were the new SF ones, yet to listen to them though.

Why do you think the VN bombed? Normally, with those voice actors alone, you get a certain audience. But they not only had a really terrible writer for what they were going for, they also didn't give a shit about getting new people in.
Kinda sad, but alas. It's not rare for companies to splurge for voice actors, but forget how important the writer is. For a drama CD this might still be okay, but for a VN.. it's harsh to go bottom tier, given that even average is not really that good with VNs.

Does anyone have vol.7 of the CDs that came included with the limited edition of the game? That's the only one I'm struggling to track down for a reasonable cost, out of things that aren't store specials.
Its Japanese title is ใ‚Šใ‚Šใใ‚‹Vol.7ใ€Ž่ผใ!? ใ‚นใ‚ฟใƒผใฎๆกไปถ!ใ€
It's available as part of the game on booth, but I already have the digital game elsewhere (MG version is just plain superior even for playing in JP), and spending 6k yen for basically just the mp3 release is a bit more than I'd like. Used game boxes float around here and there, however it's always in a "tokutens probably missing lmao" state, so there's a big risk that it's a waste of money.

No, the franchise is officially dead, and its creator left the company that was funding it. The reason according to Fumiya was something like "it's not that Lilycle is in the red, but in this shitty post-covid economy we have to brutally optimize, so we'll consolidate around our stronger franchises" (there was a livestream on youtube where he talked about that in vague terms). He was assisting with other Particle projects in exchange for being able to do Lilycle, so he had no reason to stay anymore. Currently seems to be busy doing various contract work (the latest was a script for an Arknights drama CD), so no new yuri from Fumiya for the time being, although he's low-key working on a novel that seems Lilycle-ish in style.
>>4120658
I did actually get Vol. 7 along with the game disc. I'll be compiling an archive of what I have, which is (almost?) all of the main discs, plus a few digital releases to fill the gaps, some music, and a few specials, but I'll really appreciate it if someone can share the specials that were uploaded here earlier, or any other ones. Nearly all of the specials are also available digitally on Booth and DLsite in various package deals, but I'm just not yet ready to shell out 2800 per disc only to get the specials (which will amount to well over 20k yen), at least not all by myself.
I'd also love to translate the discs that are still untranslated, but I'm just not sure if I'll have the time and energy for that any time soon.

I know translations of 1-2-3-summer-winter already exist, but this is a therapy of sorts for me, so I'm starting from the first one anyway.
Normally I wouldn't post it having only done the first file of the first CD, but this is the first time I'm muxing an .mka with subs and cover art so that it plays as if it were a subbed video (in mpv at least) and I want to know what I did wrong before I mux more.

You do realize anime costs millions of dollars and has an abysmal rate of return without even more funding for advertising on the product it tries to advertise. Small game studios aren't dumping their entire studio's budget into anime hoping to be the 1 in 100 smash hit that will make their money back and more. Sonohana is almost 20 years old with dozens of multimedia releases, I'd say that is pretty successful. Lilycle is not nearly as big as the other two and the fact it got a highly produced game is pretty cool on its own.

>>4343895
Kindred spirits came out over a decade ago and had multiple audio dramas because it did well enough to fund them, and a stroke of luck made it successful enough to fund a voiced remaster.

I suddenly got busy, but the intention is to go as far as I can manage. Each disc is pretty long though, so even timing takes a long time, let alone translation. I've also changed up things a bit. The video stream bloat needed for making a MKV is probably worth the added convenience for people not using mpv. Also I made it look similar to the game UI now, not sure why I didn't think about it from the get-go.
>>4343857
These are all really niche franchises, we're just in a bubble. The only yuri VN that I think could've lucked out on a TV anime was Flowers, and even that ship has clearly sailed by now. The anime world is now brutal anyway, it's just a bloodbath between Shueisha and Kadokawa to get good quality staff with an occasional passion project by industry veterans.

...that didn't last long, Fumiya parted ways with this new company, and apparently non-amicably. Though petitCopine will still release new drama CDs, it appears.
There was a post about this, but he took it down because he was threatened with legal action. I do wonder what was there, although I guess it doesn't really matter in the end. The one project I didn't expect any drama from, damn.
