sux ayeon doesn't ever get an appearance in the second story but I wouldn't say it was bad.

It makes sense as to why though. At the same time, I think it was a completely stylistic choice for the author for the ending that they wanted. They could have totally had ayeon help albino with her redemption arc, in the second book but that doesn't ever happen. Albino and blondie's characters never really develop much if at all, well, I would go as far as to say almost there was no character development at all for anyone in the second book. The story is completely event driven, which isn't really what I like, but it's smut, so it's not a big deal.

One thing that did kind of annoy me was how gado basically forgot some important character traits like how the albino has bad vision and can barely see anything that isn't within an arm's length. They also changed the fact that albino basically doesn't have an interest for anyone to make her more of a social manipulator, but I guess maybe 10 years in the joint made her a fucking pussy. Like, yes, she was manipulative, but she really didn't just go around kissing everyone like she does in the second story. At least that's how I saw it.

I do have to say, though that the author is really good at writing satisfying endings. Everything felt wrapped up in both stories.

About halfway through, the author sidelined the main trio and essentially made the newspaper club the new main characters where Neru is a massive yandere lesbian for penpen. Then the series goes full throttle on the supernatural stuff, gives the occult club girls their own kid, and does a rushed out-of-left-field explanation for the Aozora mystery right before the series ends (i think the author really just wanted to end the series by then, probably because they wanted to focus on the new characters).
The author then reboots the series as "outsider paradise" starring the newspaper club members in an alternate timeline, which is now on hiatus on its final volume.

It's a wild ride, and a lot of people hated the shift, but i felt it was infinitely more enjoyable.

To be fair, it was a gag manga, it barely had a focus outside of the occasional Aozora chapter; and even with that the tone was starting to change too as Kasumi was having actual mental breakdowns about her genderless crush and comedy being less prominent.
Then again im biased because i liked the 2nd half and the spin-off a lot more, even if some parts felt like the author was shitposting

Kitakawa left a huge impact on me. Young girls exploring their sexuality and forbidden, gross fetishism. Being outed for it and making that connection to how society views homosexuality as gross deviant behavior. The codependency and the reversal with Hina becoming the abuser. The tragic but expected ending, I love it all.
