You know, while I agree that it's messed up, I feel like that's the whole point. It's supposed to be that way because it's just there to create drama. The point of the show is to see how the relationship between the two women blossoms despite all of that. Obviously, that's not going to be for everybody, though, so I can't blame you for disliking it. I don't feel all that strongly about the show myself, either.

Kinda related, I just binged the whole manga over the weekend and even though it's good overall, most of the time it focuses on many members of the women's families instead of only on them. I ended up skipping some chapters about characters I didn't care about at all.

Yep fear street trilogy somehow managed to get a lesbian MC. I initially heard first 5 minutes have a het jumpscare and I almost skipped on watching it myself because I was reluctant to believe it would be worth it, but I'm so glad I gave it a chance because it ended up being better than it had any right to be and I've watched it multiple times now (around Halloween) because it is a lot of fun. I don't care if it's cliche, the leads are cute and the "everyone knows your gay but you can't be out because your whole family will disown you" religious setting hits too close to home. The films is a little too earnest for its own good but the bathroom dry humping was unreal and the closure makes up for an otherwise bitter ending.

The acting is not very good and the plot is ridiculous. There's a weird amount of partial nudity given the age of the characters and one nearly spills out of her cup but the editors left the shot in. Can't really recommend, but the kiss between them was cute.

No lesbians at all which sucked. Terrible twist that sucked. I thought the lead girl and the mean girl rival actually had more chemistry than her not! gay friend. There are scenes where they get in each other's faces and there's plenty of sexual tension (not cope) but the filmmakers were cowards. They even go home and almost have a sleepover but it's all ruined in a way I can't spoil.

The film is like a jazzy countryside period romance flick. The overall theme is boredom and tedium being washed away when someone you truly are infatuated with comes by. Ending is cruel, but there's a poignancy to it all. The film is actually based on a novel which is why the narration actually sounds like prose. Vanessa Kirby looks stunning even though she's obviously in a wig.

I know I'm late to this, but I just finished watching AyaHiro S2. I really enjoyed this season overall. I liked how it was more serious in tone than the first season, while still managing to feel like AyaHiro. The way Ayaka and Hiroko were handled this season was great. I loved how it expanded upon Hiroko and how she struggles to be honest both with herself and Ayaka. It's the reason why I think it makes sense for her to act the way she does with Ayaka this season.

Hiroko forces herself to try to be the "perfect girlfriend" to Ayaka because she's afraid that her actual desires, that her honest self, would end up hurting Ayaka. She doesn't realize that all Ayaka wants is for Hiroko to be honest with her. She doesn't need Hiroko to be perfect. I think it's especially sad for Ayaka because she has an example of a "real couple" who are actually honest with each other in the form of Risa and Kyoko. She likely just wants something like that for herself. It's all very compelling, though I do think it kind of drags a bit.

Again, I think this season was done pretty well. I'm not sure if I'd say I like it better than the first season, but it is still good. I'm only really disappointed with how little screen time Risa and Kyoko got. I get that there's only so much they could do with six episodes, but I just wanted to see them more together. Here's hoping they get their own spin-off.

TL;DR: It's great. 8/10. I'll likely rewatch it when Furritsu drops the rest of her subs.

The three series I'd definitely recommend are Ayaka Is in Love with Hiroko, Call Me by No Name, and She Loves to Cook and She Loves to Eat. They're the best Japanese GL can offer, in my opinion.
AyaHiro is a comedic and light series with a really great and funny dynamic between the main characters. It still has serious and emotional moments, especially in the second season, but it's very much a romcom and a great one at that.
Call Me by No Name, on the other hand, is much more serious and emotional. It's a beautiful show with incredible storytelling, characters, and cinematography. It's an actual masterpiece, and I think everyone should watch it. I really cannot recommend it enough.
As for She Loves to Cook and She Loves to Eat, it's a really cute, cozy series that takes its time to develop the relationship between the main characters. Both seasons are just really nice watches.

Unfortunately, I'm not that familiar with non-Japanese series and GL movies in general, so I can't recommend anything there. Hopefully someone else will be able to help you out with that.

Oh and the director of some episodes was the director who did "D.E.B.S." - one of the earliest lesbian movies with a happy end.

I think making a show out of a choose your own adventure game is kind of stupid, but whatever. I can't say I care about anything LiS-related since everything after the first game has been mediocre at best.

Watched it and to be honest I couldn't really stand how initially they turned Enid into basically no character whose only interest is mating with boys, second part changed that a bit, but then why to even add such forced shit in part 1 of s2?
And yeah I'm also tired of the whole Tyler bullshit for Wednesday which of course will also come back strong in season 3 but then I bet fangirls love it so that won't go away.
Call me crazy but this should be the true girl x girl pairing after s2 meaning Agnex x Enid if they truly want to sacrifice Wednesday on Tyler altar to end with him in s3.

One of the leads (Arhoung) did a GL before: "Love of Secret" even before "Gap" got released, as you may have noticed it didn't have the impact of "Gap" (only 2 EPs and pretty much forgotten), but I'm glad she got a second chance.
