I like scifi (especially mecha stuff, but that's rarer in the manga sphere than in anime), I like fantasy, I like horror, I like weird surrealist shit, I like mysteries, I like mahou shoujo, I even like the usual school setting romcom stuff in moderation, as oversaturated a genre as it is.
Superheroes are fine too, I just don't have much experience with capeshit. Really, I just want recommendations for stuff with gay girls that doesn't suck.

No it's fine. Star Wars has a super fun lesbian character in Doctor Aphra, like a reverse Indiana Jones. She debuted in the 2015 Darth Vader run and has her own spin-off comic series now, I think you could get by with just reading her omnibus if you ever want to give it a try.
