It's almost as if you're implying schools outside of Japan don't have clubs, student councils or festivals. Of course they do, and if the story wanted to, it could just bullshit some kind of equivalent for whatever event it needed. Anime and manga does this for fantasy series all the time. Never mind the fact that we don't even know yet if any of those things will even be relevant to this manga.

And literally nothing would have changed if the story gave the characters Japanese last names while keeping their more iconic first ones, similar to what was done between Mai Hime -> Mai Otome (admittedly, in reverse). Honestly, now that I think about it, I wonder if ancillary characters in the manga will be given normal Japanese names while the cast sticks with their western names. As if the central cast are all foreign students, or if it's some kind of international school (which it of course isn't.)

And that's all it is -- a narrative issue. Stop implying like I'm offended that the manga is offending me personally by not being in some western setting, or that there are things that are uniquely Japanese that other people could never understand. I don't read manga for any sort of localization. And stop using the ridiculous analogy of anyone ever seeing giant robots as strange in a fucking Gundam Show.

I'm kind of torn on this. The anime's first episode was exciting and took risks, while this feels painfully safe, and I can't help but worry that their relationship will never pass subtext levels here. The tags on comic-walker aren't encouraging either: no yuri or romance.

But, it's only the first chapter, and there's a lot of room for potential, and a lot to look forward to. Suletta and Miorine riding around on a motorcycle or something and filling out Suletta's list sounds really fun, and I like Eri in the absent big sister role. With she and Prospera both apparently abroad, who's running the "Vanadis Glass Workshop"? I'm guessing Dr. Cardo, but I'm really hoping Wendy and Nyla will make an appearance.

The description literally says "sol adventures with sulemio and their friends" so I don't understand why you're all concerned about if/how they'll match the anime. If that idea disappoints some of you then idk what to tell you, they were never going to take big risks with the fucking spin-off manga of all things, especially when they've tried so hard the past two years keeping the characters and their relationships in this weird gray area.

I kept my expectations low and was genuinely surprised at the little ways they're playing with the canon. Inverting sulemio's first meeting at the greenhouse, placing Suletta in one of the coldest places on Earth as opposed to the hottest planet, keeping Eri ALIVE. Again, not expecting much but little things like that make me think that they're at least going to try.

My idea for an Ad Stella continuation I devised elsewhere: go for a fifteen-year time skip between the WfM epilogue and this hypothetical sequel. Have it that there was a coup d'etat within the Space Assembly League five years after the WfM epilogue that leads to the creation of a new government. the Directorate of Man. Those responsible for this coup did it because they think corporations still have too much power and Miorine Rembran's solution over the Earthian-Spacian divide (Benerit Group dissolved and its assets sold off to Earth-based groups) as not enough and opted for a war five years after their coup to rule over everything to "build a better world from what came after the Drone War".

This gets SAL remnants who survived the coup, some corporations whose heads were willing to embrace change, and Earth-based groups to fight together (colonies like Mercury and presumably Venus if it too has colonies in Ad Stella like in Post Disaster opt for neutrality; for anyone curious about Post Disaster having a colonized Venus, that's Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans Urd Hunt) only for the Directorate to field equipment that utilizes GUND Format.

Despite their efforts, the anti-Directorate alliance lose ground to the point Directorate forces land on Earth. The new protagonist for this hypothetical sequel is a female anti-Directorate fighter whose unit caught wind of a small Directorate unit guarding something that appeared really valuable to them and while the ambush went well, the protagonist's unit ultimately get slaughtered as soon as Directorate reinforcements appear but in the midst of this, the protagonist finds what exactly is what the Directorate brought with them, a prototype mobile suit and a mysterious girl in a capsule. The female protagonist uses the mobile suit and finds there's a connection between it and the girl and as a result, manages to eliminate the Directorate forces.

I hadn't been checking AO3 lately since it had been pretty sparse, but AdraCat put out the first chapter of a pro-wrestling AU which was fun. I'm not caught up on "A Red Tempest" but it still gets regular updates. Idolfic and the other big unfinished fics still MIA.

Gqux was somewhat more bearable this week, and had some decent copium. There's no mention of Shuji, and Nyaan still seems to be holding a candle for Machu. The line about how she can't see earth (where she believes Machu is) because they're on the dark side of the moon is a neat tie in to the ongoing theme of them facing opposite directions and being separated by obstacles. And we see how even though Nyaan seems to have a chance to gain some new friends, it doesn't make her happy (even before the murder attempts.)

I finished L-Gaim. I'm very happy to report that my Amu/Leccee ship is safe, as there is zero pair formation in the ending and the guy they were fighting over leaves. The last shot of humans in the series is of Amu collapsing and Leccee reaching out to comfort her, so practically canon.

Unfortunately, there's less interactions between them in the second half as Leccee decides to leave the love triangle (at least partially because she doesn't want to fight Amu anymore) and becomes the captain of a different ship. Whenever they do meet, it tends to be very cute as they're very protective of each other amidst the banter.

There's an interesting thematic complication to this. There's an earlier generation that parallels our heroes, in which two women fought over another male special boy. Without going too much into it, he wasn't worth it, did something terrible to one of them and the other woman (blessed with classic Tomino name Full Flat) left for space where she runs an all-female microstate on an asteroid, complete with a disco. She does a lot of thinking about how happy she was spending time with her rival and thinking of ways to save her from her fate.

It's hard to think the creators didn't realize how gay they made Flat look, especially since the series has quite a few mostly benevolent LGBT jokes. By extension, Leccee and Amu at the end of the show might be intended as a very shy yuri end.

I made a collage. Some cute scenes couldn't really be captured in screenshots, especially when boys aren't allowed, but here's something.

I wouldn't recommend watching L-Gaim just for them, but it's nice to be a little del/u/sional when watching old mecha. I really liked the show and consider it one of Tomino's best. It's got the usual issues, but I found the cast so likable they could easily carry the show over rougher patches. Not that there were too many.

This, Zeta and ZZ were produced with no breaks in between, so the latter two recycle a lot of plot and character ideas from L-Gaim. If you're a Gundam scholar, you should definitely watch it.

A) She was rasied on a planet with no other kids her own age...I myself when I went to the big city from Hokkaido was exceedingly shy at first, so Igot how she felt. For example, when she couldn't quite click with the other students I'd think "just like me!".

In season 1, she still wasn;t quite aware of that gap in views. Then at the end of S1, there was THAT scene...

A) Yeah, for someone like Suletta who believed 100% in her mum, what she did was totally fine. But Miorine had a different idea of right and wrong, and that scene showed it.
Ofc differences in how you view life and death is a way heavier thing to deal with compared to minor mishaps during regular school life.
SO at that point Suletta started to have doubts over her POV (her mums). She began to deviate from what she'd previously thought was infallible, and to think for herself. That was a focus in S2.

Q)Certainly, that was shown pretty clearly in the last episode during her scene with prospera. What did you feel during that?
A) Suletta didn't use any particularly complex words or phrases, but it's because of that she was able to make her point clear. She's always straightforward, so something simple was the best to show her feelings.

A) Lynn, who plays Miorine, has such a strange air about her, I found it impossible to get too nervous, during both recordings and the radio. She's so relaxed it rubbed off on me too. I felt really glad to have her with me.

A) The show has so many charm points, it'd be impossible to list them all. But for me I'd say one of them is the variety of relationships shown throughout the show. Suletta and Miorines, Suletta and her Mum, Miorine and her dad, Jeturk brothers, Zenelli families adoption, there really is a a ton of diversity, each one having it's own issues.
They make look okay on the surface, but really be troubled, or the opposite where they seem on bad terms but in fact have a strong bond. It's possible to find one that you can see yourself in.
That's why I think it's a show that leaves a mark on it's viewers.

The retarded statement doesn't change what's shown in the show, but it's concerning the fact of a voice actress being censored because she stated something that happens in the show: Suletta and Miorine are married in the Epilogue. The hetbait is even doubtious, like the chara commentary; there's Guel's crush on Suletta, but guess what, it has Prospera giving MOTHER-IN-LAW advices to Miorine, and ends with Suletta telling Miorine they will always, always be together. Saying it has hetpandering is a schizo stretch.

I may find annoying the "hetbait" in Youth Frontier, but I know Suletta will always choose Miorine at the end of the day, so there's no need to be upset.

Yeah, Xabungle is the only 80s Tomino anime I haven't seen. Nice to hear someone recommend it. Dunbine started out good, but the final part got a little too brutal with nothing being allowed to happen until the last two eps.
