>Play this today for the first time
>It’s better than Halo in terms of music & presentation
>Better story than Half-Life
>Better overall than GoldenEye
Why do you guys never talk about this? Genuinely one of the best games ever made
We do talk about it once in a while. It's truly one of the best game of all time, up there with Timesplitters.
The multiplayer was amazing too
>>712349012 (OP)You have to understand most people posting here are too underage to remember the Kino of Nightfire and agent under fire. the grappling hook multiplayer of agent under fire is fun as hell, also both games campaigns are pretty enjoyable
>halo
Naw.
>goldeneye
I’ll give you that, both are subpar
It's fucking awesome, and it's genuinely shocking to me how "Bond Moves" never returned in subsequent games. It makes the environments feel so interactive.
Also, playing multiplayer on the ski lift map with trip mines is goated
>Better story than Half-Life
Not that I think all that highly of Half Life but Nightfire's story is just "evil businessman does evil and only explains what he's doing in the second to last level when you're too busy shooting waves of enemies to listen". And then his plan is "rule the world with capitalism and nukes".
>>712349012 (OP)i don't think i ever touched the story but i played the shit out of the multiplayer with my brother
>>712349452>"Bond Moves" never returned in subsequent gamesGoldeneye: The One Nobody Remembers had something similar
>>712349452For me it was everyone is Oddjob with the grenade only weapon set
'ate craig
'luv brosnan
best bond, simple as
>>712349012 (OP)Why would I play a game that has the asshole who bond burgered my sister in it?
It’s the best James Bond game for sure. Reminds me of medal of honor
>>712349012 (OP)>It’s better than Halo in terms of music & presentationI literally played it the day it came out and would never say something this fucking stupid about it
>>712349012 (OP)I dont know about all that. But i do think its the best bond game ever made imo
Funfact: they canceled the pc version of agent underfire
Nightfire on PC was nothing like the console version and features completely different levels and missions.

>>712349012 (OP)>Better overall than GoldenEye
>>712349213>the grappling hook multiplayer of agent under fire is fun as hellThat's only because there aren't that many good first person spider man games to begin with
>>712351748Only people that suck GoldenEye's cock incessantly are N64 kiddies that grew up with it. No different than smelly nerds that still play Melee.
>>712349012 (OP)Nightfire (except the PC version) and Everything or Nothing are the best 007 games ever made.
>>712351886Certain things you don't "get" unless you were "there" when it happened, this is especially true with any game with multiplayer modes, local or online. Rare games (all of them) have infinitely more soul than any of the modern games have, and while the agent under fire and nightfire share the 2nd place with TWINE for "next best bond game after Goldenye", they don't have any of the soul that Rare games have.
>>712352762>Certain things you don't "get" unless you were "there" when it happenedHe said that
>>712351501Nightfire on console was awesome. Very stealthy. AUF felt arcady
>>712353620You conveniently forgot to quote the part where I mentioned that the other games don't have nearly as much soul as goldeneye. Am I interacting only with bots here now?
>>712351748it is and i played both on release
>>712349012 (OP)I wish the pc port wasn't complete ass. I bet people would still play online if it was the same as the console version.
>>712349213>muh underage4chan is boomer central buddy, there just isn't much to say about it, it's general concensus that this game along with Everything or Nothing is the best Bond game
if you make Bond thread, people will talk about it, just like they're doing now
>>712351748GoldenEye was mid even back in the day and got mogged HARD by TimeSplitters, it only got so popular because it was an actual FPS on consoles that wasn't just shitty Doom port
>>712354840>GoldenEye>mogged HARD by TimeSplitters>t. history revisionist sonyfagall these underage takes
Again, if you had actually player TS, you would know that it too just doesn't have the soul that goldeneye does. The soul of goldeneye is embedded in those animatinos and the engine. TS just doesn't capture it, they try to recreate it but as an end result it shows off that the talent that made those rare shooters good, stayed behind and made PD too, because that game had the same soul that Goldeneye did (if slightly less in some areas), whilst TS was not even close.
Reminder that if your only argument is something as unquantifiable as "but the SOUL" your game is shit and you don't have a point to make.
>>712355474So go play Call of Duty
>>712349012 (OP)I loved this game as a kid, but I always felt it was missing something. Then I grew up and learned that PC version had half the content console one did.

>>712355885i recommend going and playing the console version if you havn't. its a lot of fun and trying to unlock everything is pretty difficult to what i remember
>>712355272"the soul" was just it being babby's first fps
>>712356291I'll look into emulating it, once I have some more time to spare.
>>712349012 (OP)Nightfire Multiplayer is GOAT’d
>>712356365Different game engines, different vibes. Some say you can emulate the feel of the tightness of an old game even with modern engines, but I haven't seen this happen. Only way to emulate tightness is if you go very deep into the engine, or make your own engine from the scratch, both are things most games (usually those with "less soul") tend not to do. It's "the" thing that makes games like Death Rally "tight" top-down racing game, meaning it hasn't been replicated. You simply can't, you'd have to be an autist like that yoshi n64 guy making his own mario romhack to even begin to make something tight. Most devs aren't quite on that level, and that's why many games are slop.
>>712357186based anon, I love Future Perfect and for me it's on par with goldeneye and Perfect Dark but yea it's not the same level attention to details and meticulously crafted maps
>>712349012 (OP)this was my first FPS
i was sad that you couldn't wallbang like in CS1.6 which i had seen my friend play
besides that it was kino, i remember steering the rockets out of bounds through windows and then back into bounds through other windows in multiplayer
>>712349012 (OP)The only FPS game I ever enjoyed honestly, along with Goldeneye and AUF but this was my fave. Good times playing this with my brothers back in the day.
>>712349012 (OP)It's pretty good but PC had better shooters back then, like Soldier of Fortune 2 or Battlefield 1942. I can see why console fags went crazy over it though.
>>712349012 (OP)I borrowed/tardes this game from a neighbor and it really was one of the best games I played on Gamecube. We used to 4 man multiplayer for hours, played more than Melee.
I don't remember the story mode aside from the fact that I was pretty OP by the endgame.
Was it nightfire or agent under fire that had that motorbike stage on a highway? That was such a cool level and really felt fast. Blew my mind that was the only driving level in the game with how polished it felt
>>712355272TS had bots which made split-screen much better because it meant you weren't watching each other's screens 100% of the time. Goldeneye had no bots, Perfect Dark had bots but adding them further reduced the already low frame rate (like all its all other cool features did). TS had more stuff, all of it worked as intended, and there were no frame rate issues. It also had soulful co-op challenges, like zombie survival. Goldeneye is the easily the worst of these three, and speaking personally, its soundtrack gives me a fucking headache.
>>712359387This and Perfect Dark Arcade was rad because it got rid of the slowdowns. Not a fan of some new models but still great.
>>712349012 (OP)I remember this game being a blast on gamecube, but trying to play it again on an emulator with that tiny c-stick sucks ass. I already hate console fps controls too.
>>712358193the only way i ever played this game. never once started the singleplayer or played a different map, yet i still have massive nostalgia for the game
I played 007 Racing as a kid. I remember it being okay but nothing special. how are the other PS1 bond games? are they worth grabbing the roms for?
>>712349012 (OP)>Played it back then>It's got presentation>but the shooting is bland as fuck>Enemies don't react to bullets>Goldeneye did>No bulletholes>Something feels off, the first time that I feel a videogame is missing "something">EA>Wonder who these guys are>Notice they're the same as Medal of Honor for the GC (bland and short as well)>Notice they're churning out games, but they're all missing something>Except Return of the King, that game is short but sweetI still think it's one of the better 007 games, but nothing particularly awesome even for the time.
>>712354840the way Goldeneye became so notorious confuses me. it was an exclusive for a underperforming console, in a time when PC players were already leagues ahead playing online with Quake.
it had some advantages, such as being released early in the N64 timeline, and for being a unique experience on a console.
even though I myself have a lot of nostalgia for it, i still don't understand why it ended up having such legendary status in vidya.
It wasn't THAT bad.
>>712362632I'm really tired of people pretending Die Another Day isn't fun Bondkino just because it's "silly", at least they're not glazing Moonraker at the same time this time
Also why is Octopussy so underrated? It's honestly in my top 5, it's definitely better than the boring slog Spectre at least
Also also why isn't Quantum of Solace dead last, that piece of shit is not even proper Bond movie yes, I know I defended the game but that's different

make way faggots for the best 007 game
>>712350252>both had only one good moviesucks to be you
>>712374523I miss when every time you would see a game with an EA logo, you knew you were in for a good time. it's sad to see how they were corrupted by corporate greed.
the only reason goldeneye is talked about was because it was the first popular new console fps that wasn't a port. Console shooters are actually terrible and nightfire is no exception
>>712363526Mostly because people fucking larped for years and basically rewrote history that the Arkham games were the first good licensed games ever made and then when people started playing the old ones after they realized most of them are short and a good way to kill an afternoon, people started collectively realizing that a lot of those old licensed games that you'd cry about getting under the Christmas Tree when you were 12 because it wasn't Mario or Cawadooty were actually pretty good games.
>>712363526It's because there were three playable games on n64, smash, zelda and goldeneye. If you were playing anything else you were just wasting time
How did this game have so much kino crammed into it.
The skyscraper stealth level
The sniper level
The tropical island 4x4 vehicle/turret level near the end
Loads of variation it was so good. Not to mention the multiplayer and the driving/rail shooter levels.
>>712363526I think having 4 controller ports on the 64 helped popularizing it, everyone played it multiplayer
just like Halo and the og xbox, those games are always more fun with friends and online wasn't really a thing on consoles yet despite online fps being really popular on pc
